Marshall Modern-Vintage

I know we've discussed them when they were first announced, but has anyone had an opportunity to try one? The reviews are pretty good so far. If you get a chance, go to the Marshall website and check out the specs. They have a really cool pre-amp tweaking feature, where you can adjust the upper and lower mids, plus other cool things.

No. I even asked a few local stores if they knew when they'd have them. Nobody knows anything, so I assume it'll be a few weeks after the NAMM show that they start shipping.

And don't expect to see them on the floor long. The first ones always get snapped up in a matter of hours.

I told my salesguy friend at GC to call me as soon as they get the first one.
I'll check it out, and if it's totally killer, I may buy it. Since they'll be brand new, I can always sell it for what I paid a few weeks later if I feel like it.

Re: Marshall Modern-Vintage

I so cannot wait for one of the half-dozen GC's near me to get one. I want to try this amp out so bad. I may have to take one of my guitars along.

You're right. I forgot about NAMM. After they've been out a while, they'll be easier to get. If they sound as good as they're supposed to, I'm definitely jumping on a 2X12 combo:banana:

C'mon Jeff go for the head and Cab.:kidding: I am looking into this when it comes out also.

Re: Marshall Modern-Vintage

IME, greenbacks don't sound so great in an open back cab....the low end gets WAYYYYYY too flubby...

Def try before ya buy with the combo...

Or just return it for a full refund. I think they'll take anything back, as long as you don't do it too often:smokin:

I've heard of guys being told they can't return stuff any more at GC because they did it too often. That's like the guy in the movie Casino getting banned from Vegas.

Dave,

I know. I'm real tempted. That would be very, very cool. Takes me back to the days of the 50w Marshall head and 4X12 cab I had for a while.

Re: Marshall Modern-Vintage

I've got that DVD and the amps sound great. I've also got the JVM DVD. 2 very different beasts, but some great sounds.

Re: Marshall Modern-Vintage

Yes it is Jeff. I got both of mine free with Guitarist Magazine in the UK. You might want to try contacting them direct. Marshall that is!!

Re: Marshall Modern-Vintage

Actually the new JVM series (NOT to be confused with Vintage Modern) sounds even MORE SCARY!

4 Channels
Based on the JCM800
Midi Control
Recording out with NO need for speaker hook up to hold load
12 total modes within the 4 channels
Footswitch
EL34 Design

Are you drooling yet?

Re: Marshall Modern-Vintage

VINTAGE MODERN and JVM are NOT NOT NOT The same

one is a KT66 blend of gain and classic tone

the other is 4 ch and El34 respectively
