Does anyone own or know about this amp? How does it sound, can I get that old AC?DC Gn'R tone? Are they reliable? I read somewhere that the smaller version the tubes get "scary hot". If you could give me as much info as possilbe that would be great. Thanks

Re: Marshall TSL 602

great sounding amps and you can get them cheap since they've been discontinued. they don't get hotter than any other tube amp i've owned and i didn't have any problems with mine. personally, i prefer the dsl 100 over any tsl, but for in a combo the tsl 602 is very good.

the only thing that really bothered me is that the third channel gets noisy at high gain levels. it might be the stock tubes or something, i don't know, but it was kind of annoying. didn't have that problem at all with the dsl 100. if you can, get the dsl 100 with a 1/2 cab and you'll have an awesome tone.

i prefer the orange channel on the tsl. it's not real high gain, but it's got a nice sound to it. real marshally tone of course. put a tube screamer in front and you've got yourself a kick-ass amp.

you can find the tsl 601s pretty cheap now. as with any tube amp, it's going to get hot. all you have to do is keep a fan in your practice area or at least keep your amp away from the wall. some people put their amps right against the wall and that's not going to help if there are any heat issues anyway. i love marshall amps. good luck with it.

Re: Marshall TSL 602

I have the TSL 601. Cool amp. I am mostly using the clean channel wih a Plexitone at the moment. When I use the drive channels I usually give them a kick with the Jekyll side of my J&H Ultimate overdrive. I agree with barbarianbrute that the crunch channel is better than the red, but there are great tones to be had. They do take a little patience sometimes to dial them in. As for heat, they don't get any hotter than any other tube amp I've come across. They're excellent value at the mo, too!!!
