Marty Friedman signature Ibanez?

Re: Marty Friedman signature Ibanez?

:firedevil: thats the first pic i have ever seen of it, looks cool and i literally can't wait to see the actual guitar.

Re: Marty Friedman signature Ibanez?

I'm curious of two things:

1) since it's obviously a single cutaway guitar, how will they dodge Gibson on the shape issue...

2) will an Ibby finally have REAL Duncans stock...

Re: Marty Friedman signature Ibanez?

1) they will dodge gibson no problem, the upper horn is actually shaped more like a godin.

2) this years ibanez SZ series has duncan designs, because marty WAS playing the SZ series(now he's is playing the prototype.)

Re: Marty Friedman signature Ibanez?

Yeah I know about the Duncan Designed pickups in the SZ, I'm interested to see if "real" Duncans show up in this axe.

True, but IMHO I don't think the PRS Singlecut resembles an LP all that much besides having a single cutaway. Control layout, bridge/tailpiece layout, shape of the carved top, lower horn shape, etc. etc. were different

Re: Marty Friedman signature Ibanez?

that is true, but washburn's(cant remeber model name) and dean's evo are also similar to the gibson les paul, they have killed them..........................yet, gibson is so money hungry :yell:

Re: Marty Friedman signature Ibanez?

That lower horn looks really shallow, that would probably be all they need to get by...

Re: Marty Friedman signature Ibanez?

true, it is also a little pointy, oh and i forgot to mention the ESP les pauls, they are almost identical, and they didnt sue esp yet, well except for the explorer.

This is old news, actually, but I can't wait to check out the production model! :)

I wasn't sure if this had been discussed before (or if there had been pics of it). My apologies :).

Re: Marty Friedman signature Ibanez?

I'll wait till I've played one.

Does anyone else think Marty's picking hand position is odd?

Re: Marty Friedman signature Ibanez?

lol it is old news, but this is certainly the first pic i have seen of it, and i have been looking.

Re: Marty Friedman signature Ibanez?

ibanez will probably do it like the did the JS signature, a high priced one and a cheaper lower quality one.

Probably so, hence my concern where Gibby is concerned. They seem to get most interested when you start entering their price bracket.

And yes, I DO find Marty's picking posture to be odd. I have his instructional video and remember just staring at his pickhand the first time I sat down with it thinking "WTF?!?". It works though :).

Re: Marty Friedman signature Ibanez?

gibson is becoming the microsoft of guitars, i bet they have employee's that look for guitars in the gibby price range, with the same looks to put out a law-.suit
