not really, i have seen it like that in a bunch of other guitars(explorer, firebird etc...)
but never on a les paul shaped guitar.

Hed mentioned in a Guitar One interview that was done right when Music For Speeding came out that he had a signature model in development... although this is a bit of a surprise as he was using Ibanez S models with no trem at the time... the body kinda looks like a Gretsch Duo Jet to me!

I knew about it and I like it! But heck it was supposed to come out beginning this year! I hope the Prestige version will have a flame top and natural binding along with it, you can sign me up for one if it does! I'm also curious about the fatness of the neck, Marty always claimed it wasn't a biggy, but for me it is. If it's anything like his Kelly sig, we're in for a real treat!
