Masterbuilt Strat-o-tele (or Tele-Strat)

Check out these hybrid Strats with Tele stylin's, masterbuilt by Yuriy Shiskov from the Custom Shop. Fender's calling them "Nashville Strats".

The orange one sold in less than a day:

This one in a natural showed up tonight:

Tele pickguard/switch/bridge plate/bridge pickup, even a side mounted jack. Though the neck pickup is the typical Strat-style.

If you'd asked me in advance, I would've told you that I'd like the natural finish better than an orange guitar. But seeing the actual guitars, the orange has *really* grown on me. I'm hoping if there's a third one in the series, it would be "Tele butterscotch". :14: Or black. :scratchch

As a Strat guy, I haven't bonded with very many Teles -- the exceptions are those with Strat-style forearm and ribcage contours -- but I'd definitely like to give one of these a go; or at least one that looked just like these (note: since these are Masterbuilt, they are going for almost five large).

I'm thinking the Strat neck pickup would be better off replaced either with a '59/PAF neck pup (like Keef's Teles) or maybe just a proper lipstick pup w/ a Strat pup in the middle (which is what goes into a Deluxe Nashville Tele or the Nashville B-Bender Tele).

I like the orange finish, but I'm not feeling the overall vibe of the electronics/pickguard layout.
