Matamp cabinets.

Ey,

I'm just wondering if you guys have any experience with this particular cab or Matamp cabs in general? There's one on ebay now that I'm interested in:

I've been looking for a REALLY nice 2x12 for some time now that will get close to a 4x12 sound but will also will fit into the back seat of my car. I'm also not keen on lugging around a 4x12 and having one taking up space in my apartment. I've come very close to buying an Orange 2x12 but the funky Orange tolex doesn't quite suit my style. I missed out on snapping up unloaded Marshall 1966a a few weeks ago, which has the same speaker setup and slightly smaller dimensions.

I personally love the scaled down quad box look and the basket weave speaker cloth. The quality of Matamp materials and construction seems to be
one of the best in the business.

I'd be using this with a Mesa Boogie Quad/Fifty/Fifty Rack setup and Laney AOR50. I'd like a chunky and tight response with smooth highs and punchy mids. At the moment, I'm not really getting that with my dinky home-made open back 1x12 with Mesa Boogie Black Shadow Celestion 90 speaker. My cabinet setup is a really weak link in my chain.

Any thoughts?

A good friend of mine uses The same (in gray tolex) one ,and his Plexi sounds amazing! We where on the same stage and that thing was.......Heavy and powerfull!!!
Orange and Matamp cabs are extremely well build! If the price is okay ,go for it!

Yeah hopefully it doesn't go too high as it is already a big price to pay just for a 2x12. Matamp is quite rare in Australia. I'd rather get a great cab for a few hundred bucks more than a mediocre one.

I could get a used Marshall 1960a quad for the same price but it seems a lil' ridiculous to have one in my situation.

Great cabs, I nearly got one myself and probably will in the not so distant future. I doubt you'd be disappointed!

Top of the line, better than average. Matamp and Orange are two companies that really know how to make a good cab.
