59n or PGn? What do you suggest as a better match out of these two for Alternative-8 in terms of output and EQ?

Either pickup would match up with the Alt 8 fairly well and are very close in output to each other, but I'd probably recommend the '59 more out of those two choices.

Is this a metal monster? Are you playing leads/solos on the neck position or mostly chords and rhythms? Emphasis on clean tones or mostly playing with gain? What do you want the pickup to do?

Personally, I would probably opt for something like the Jazz for a balance of nice cleans with clarity under gain.

Alternatively, the SH-6n Distortion Neck model has more drive than most neck pickups, but still has lots of clarity and good articulation for being so hot. If you want a lush and warm neck tone in the same family as the 59/PGn, the SH-12 Screamin' Demon is another pickup that would match up to the Alt 8 well.

Thanks for the suggestions MastaC... Yeah I was thinking about the Jazz too and earlier I was thinking hotter pickups too.Yeah it's a metal monster. I play solos and clean interludes etc on neck. I'm interested a lot in the clean tone of the neck pickup. I like it to be deep and bright enough for nice, almost acoustic metal intros etc.Chords at neck very rarely. When I want to play some of the very few alternative songs I like...

That "warm and crystaline" clean tones in the 59 description is what I'm after...hmmm...

For 24 fretter, I recommend Screamin' Demon. It will give more meat in neck position. Deep/warm, bright/crystaline, it delivers. Demon blends nicely in the middle position with Alt8 and both make for versatile combo.

The screamin demon sounds good for the 24 fret neck position in terms of output. Hnmmm wouldn't it be a bit bassy in an all mahogany guitar?

Ok that's very interesting because I like the demon in the bridge very much. It could be really good sounding in the neck then. As it's based on the 59 after all...
