Maxon PH-350 Rotary Phaser

I just scored one off of eBay for $150... these things are $275 new! This baby is sweet... all kinds of sounds. It easily does the Phase 90 thing and way more (although not as dirty as the Phase 90 which I feel is better). Let your amp provide the dirt is the way I see it. But it also provides crazy-trippy sounds as well using the cool Feedback knob which can go from positive to negative phase. It even does a cool Flanger effect. Very warm, very analog. So far I've only put it in front of my amp which is where I think I'll keep it... we'll see. What I like most about the effect is that it sounds full and clear whether I'm playing clean or very dirty! An extremely versatile pedal here.

The only negative is that it's NOT true bypass and it DOES color my tone when off. I was pretty surprised about that given the money they charge for this thing new. I'm sending mine off to Analogman for the TB mod ($50 w/ shipping) which still leaves me much cheaper than a new one! Then it will be the perfect phaser (for me)!

So if you're in the market for a phaser... add this one to your list of potentials and give it a test drive.

Re: Maxon PH-350 Rotary Phaser

I have the same Phaser in my board. I 100% agree. The best phaser I have ever tried. Absolutely much more flexible than the MXR or EHarmonix. Very musical sounding.

I didn't realize Analog Mike does true bypass mods on them. That may be too good an idea to pass up..... (that was always the one thing that bummed me out...and of course the size of the pedal).

Peace!

:D

Re: Maxon PH-350 Rotary Phaser

I contacted Analogman and he just needed to verify that the switch was not attached to the board directly. I found some pics of the guts on the web and sent them to him. He said no problem... just a few days! The pricing he gave me was $35 for standard TB mod, $15 for the 3PDT switch and $10 shipping. I'm also gonna send my Boss DD-6 to be modded to give it a more analog sound... that's my only digital pedal.

Check it out.... www.analogman.com

Here's the pics of the phaser:
