"meditate" - hard rock

Re: "meditate" - hard rock

maNY thanks brutha, heavy is the most fun for me

regarding vocals -

...I think this song would sound better with vocals since there is alot of room for them in the less busy parts. Im taking a break from vocals for a few months and concentrating on my guitar and bass playing, maybe one day my vocals will get up to snuff. I laid down vocals on this song but they were really pitchy and I thought they did the song a disservice. vocals take alot of time for me to record, instead of taking 2 hours to record a song - vocals make it take like 4 hours for me....

Me likey !! I've been a Deftones fan from the moment I heard Bored. I can hear some Steph Carpenter influence in your playing, keep up the good work !

Yeah, the vocals would really pull it all together I think. Really enjoyed your solo, good feel to it and it fit the song nicely. I'm not a huge fan of the fade in at the start though, you think it would have more impact to just hit the chords right off the bat?

Thanks much! Great constructive criticism, good to hear your opinion. I think it would! I dont have a big fade in song that I have recorded yet, where everything fades in; I think I may go back and get rid of the fade and put in vocals one day, I say that alot and it doesnt happen tho hehe...

Glad you dig this, thanks!! :)

Got it! I spend over 4 hours on vocals alone...I think I average around 50 hours for a complete track.

whoa! I did not realize that. Your vocals sound great. Ill keep this in mind; if I get my vocal chops up after a few months Ill start with the vocals again and set aside 4 hours. :beerchug:

Re: "meditate" - hard rock

Just an FYI into what I do for vocals. Fifteen minutes plus minus for warm up singing the track, about 1 hour of actually tracking the lead vocal. Usually 5 takes in all, then about an hour comping together the best bits usually from the last two takes. Then I correct the bum notes in Melodyne and start backing vocals etc.

very cool man, thanks for the fyi, that is definitely the proper way to do home recordings. Im saving up for a bass and guitar amp, but I need to eventually get singing lessons and find a place to sing - apartment Im living in is very quiet - for grad students etc...

:friday:

Very nice. I like the keybnoard stuff in there as well!

thanks so much!

I used guitars and put all types of line 6 phaser/modulators on em. thanks :)

Re: "meditate" - hard rock

Oh man -- rock on brotha! Really cool use of effects -- I like the overall groove, and the solo is pretty tasteful, if a bit long. I agree with the others who said this needs some vocals. Definitely needs a melody to carry the whole thing.

Re: "meditate" - hard rock

Yeah, extremely sci-fi like... Something form a sci-fi movie with Zombie Martian around. Rampage, running people, desperate attacks on Zombie Martians etc. Very cool!:)
