Meet My Gear!!!

For those who care...:D
Now you can finally see the pinstripes I put on the Schecter (that no one seemed to care about!) The upper switch on the controls controls phase between pickups, the lower one switches between full, split, and parallel for the bridge, and the empty space next to that switch will (hopefully) house a similar switch for the neck when I get my A2P.

The jag is a stock 96. I'll get Duncans as soon as I'm not poor.

The Takamine on the left is my dad's old 76 which he gave to me. It's got a weirdass adjustable bridge, and a crack at the bottom bout of the body from where he dropped it (I had it repaired). The one on the right is my Jasmine, a lower end takamine they made a few years back. Ebony fretboard, actually a good guitar...

The line6 amp will be around no longer than it takes me to save up enough money to buy a Marshall JCM DSL401 combo, I've passed up a few great guitars for the sake of that thing

enjoy...
dan

...and yes, before anyone comments, I sleep on a bare matress with a sleeping bag  I'm a college student, money goes to food, books, gas, and the JCM:D

Re: Meet My Gear!!!

Hehehe nice gear man. Like to see gear that doesn't necessarily consist of a Strat or Paul, no matter how classic they are! :)

Re: Meet My Gear!!!

ha, thanks... the great thing is, if I switch the DD on the Schecter to single coil it sounds just like a Strat, if I switch into parallel it sounds almost like a tele:D

Re: Meet My Gear!!!

What model Schecter is that?

Is that a unpainted maple neck?

And is it a bolt on model? or Is it glued in?

Sorry for all the questions: I'm a sucker for Blue guitars, and that's a very nice looking guitar.

It's an Omen6, cheapest one you can get:D but it sounds AMAZING!!! And feels better. It's a bolt neck, The neck is unpainted maple, rosewood fretboard, unbound. What probably looks like binding on the guitar is actually pinstriping, done by me, with automotive touchup paint :smack: poor man's binding if you will, though I didn't intend for it to look that way at first.

Thanks for the admiration, you just made my day:)

Well damn...I'm more than happy with my Strat, but had I known about that model Schecter I would have looked into it when I started having issues w/ the Ibanez and Jackson. I thought the Omen was a set neck model.

Did the Duncans come stock? JB/59?

nope... higher end models have the JB/59 or duncan design pickups... this one just came with stock Schecter things, weren't bad actually, the bridge reminded me of the Duncan Distortion I eventually put in it, the duncan sounds better of course:D, but living with the stock ones wouldn't have been bad, the neck pickup is decent, a bit muddy for my tastes, I want to try an Alnico 2 Pro.

Re: Meet My Gear!!!

Nice pinstripes...

The Jag is a beauty, I have a friend who has one the same, same coulor too, plays very nicely, so I assume (I know one should never assume) that yours plays as good as it looks?

Re: Meet My Gear!!!

Thanks!

I love the jag, mine plays great. I've got Daddario flatwound 11s on it now, excellent fretwork on it, I've got enough action that I can bend decently on the 7" radius fretboard, but it's still fairly low. Guitar is nice and resonant, I don't know if mine is the basswood body or the alder, I'm guessing alder because it's fairly heavy. I'm fine with the pickups right now, but I've heard duncans are 10x better than the jap pickups, so I might try them out.

Guy who invented fire, If you're looking into Jags and Jazzs, most people would prefer the conventional scale of the Jazzmaster, along with the increased stability, along with the p90 like pickups... not me though:) there's just something about the jag, the scale length isn't that hard to get used to, not for me anyways, it makes bending easier than it should be, and you can reach more frets than you can on most other guitars
