Megadeth - Holy Wars (The Punishment Due)

This is a demo of Positive Grid's BIAS; a VST plugin amp modeler. No drums or anything, just guitar.

I've never been a fan of modelers (I'm a tube dude), but this one is the first that made me go "hmmm...!"

LLL - BIAS Holy Wars

Pickup is a Gibson '57 Classic PAF.

Yes, I broke my wrist. Curse you, Dave!

That's some pretty good tone. Would you say the response is as realistic as touted?

Yes - absolutely. It feels real good.

I've disparaged modelers for over a decade plus; this is the first one that impressed me.

I'm still learning how to tweak it (not much experience futzing with modelers since I never use them).

I also don't play much metal anymore.

So I did very little to tweak this tone (forgot the amp model I used); thought it would work. I scooped a little 500hZ (-2dB) but that's about it.

EDIT: I used the "5153 MkII" amp

Nice work!

In between learning Dead songs I typically throw in an old pre-Black Album Metallica song and or couple fun riffs, as well as a riff or two from good ole Dave.

In fact recently I was just goofing off on a solid little opening riff of what I thought was my own design ( but in my head I was like this is something I have heard before )

Finally it click in my old noggin that it was the opening to Symphony of Destruction, so from there I decided to try to learn the whole song. Got it down pretty well except the chorus ( Just like the Pied Piper... ) I know the picking pattern, but I don't know if I just need more practice or it's cause my picking hand has gone numb due to a recent M.S. flare up. It's not an overly difficult run but I just am not able to pull it off yet. So I tried to power chord it through ( it loses a bit of its intricacy, but at least it can be muscled through until I can pull off the picking )

Sorry,
Had just set the guitar down from playing it when I saw this post, so was fresh on my mind.

Again, nice work!!

Thx - yeah the Dalai Lama sez:

"if ya wanna stay young, ya gotta keep up the Megadeth chops."

and of course:

"gunga galunga."

My wrist is still sore because I haven't played that regularly since the early 90s.

That was awesome :) I used to try and give it a go sometimes back in the 90's. Yeah definitely a wrist-breaker lol.

Nice tone too.. comes fairly close actually.
