Melody Maker Custom Build with P-Rail, Wiring question.

Alright, after ordering all the necessary parts and waiting for delivery everything has finally arrived.

While I continue to finish the Melody Maker, I turn to you all and ask for help.

I have never done wiring and have only ever soldered a few wires. So here is a breakdown of what I am going for...

The parts:

500k stacked concentric pot
On/On DPDT switch (killswitch) (Need to be able to completely mute the guitar while looping vocals and synth)
Momentary killswitch, (for interesting delay and tremolo effects)
Triple Shot (yet to be purchased as it was a recent decision as they seem cheap and easily broken)
Input jack

My first question is will I need another switch for in phase and out of phase? ..and if so what kind would work? ..and would it be worth it?

I am assuming from previous posts about the Triple Shot that you are able to utilize all 4 pickup selection options. Rail, Series, P-90, Parallel?

Lastly,... *Would any of you wiring gurus help a novice with a wiring diagram?*

Thanks for your time everyone, I am stoked to finally get this guitar up and running.

To answer a few of your questions, since nobody else seems to want to...

A Triple shot will let you access all possible wiring configurations of a P-Rail. Both switches to one direction mutes the coil in that direction. Top switch down, bottom-up runs the two in series (humbucker mode for a P-Rail), Top-up bottom down runs them in parallel (like a super-hot single-coil).

If you want to be able to switch your pickups in and out of phase, you'll need another switch (a DPDT). Out-of-phase pickups will give a thin tone...whether or not you like it is a matter of personal choice, but it does open up additional tone options, meaning you'll have a pretty good palette with your P-Rail.

Let me get back to you on the wiring diagram. You are just running the single P-Rail and the concentric volume/tone knob, correct?

Re: Melody Maker Custom Build with P-Rail, Wiring question.

I'd be happy to draw you up a couple of diagrams. Just sometimes I'm slow. :)

Btw, you only need a SPST switch for a kill switch. It simply connects across the output jack to short out the guitar signal.

I'll draw you something up soon.

P.S. What's your idea behind the stacked concentric pot? That's a little unusual.

Re: Melody Maker Custom Build with P-Rail, Wiring question.

Isn't the Melody Maker a thin body? Is there enough depth in a Melody Maker to handle the stacked pot?
