Re: Merry Christmas and NGD
Factory chrome is such a big bonus, since you'll be less afraid of tarnishing problems like most Customs.
Are the frets the standard ones, or are they the flat type? It's hard to tell from the pics.
Finding vintage guitars in NOS condition is such a treat. You almost want to thank the guy who chose not to play it.
Factory fretless wonder
It's not perfect, there is some pick scuffs and some scuff lines but there is no dents in the headstock, a few tiny nicks also on the side near the jack plate, zero checking and what's really nice is there is no yellowing to the binding anywhere, the nut is still white:eyecrazy:. I would grade it a very close 9 out of 10
Anything that I see for the most part should buff out
This guitar is almost too nice a condition to play, I may just end up swapping it to a collector if an equitable Gibson trade should come up. It was bought from Norman's Rare Guitars for $3499 by the previous owner a few months ago. There is very few Black Beauty 79s out there anyway, total production was around 1600 for Custom's in the various finishes, the lowest production figure other then 1968. Of that. something like 300 Black Beauties were made and of that figure, less then 50 came with chrome hardware in 2 and 3 pup configuration. They are T-Tops in this. The big thing is these do not have the pancake body but a solid mahogany back. It weighs around 10 1/2lbs
The strings on it are too light, I think a set of 11s or 12s are in order soon
Thanks for the compliments, if anyone has an equitable Gibson trade, I'll listen. I don't want to be the first to put a dent in it LOL. I am in no hurry, it's a pleasure just to own it and play it occassionally
My buddy Brandon must be rolling his eyes right now
