i got one- it is in the 'dual recto' series, and mine is the 1x12...it has no master volume, so you gotta turn it up. I use mine in the 6v6 setting with a TS7 tube screamer, and it is the best sounding boogie I have tried. it has no gain at all, but it has the good stuff- power tube distortion.
i think it didn't sell so well, as people thought all dual rect boogies sounded like Korn. this is the most anti-boogie ever, with the best reverb i have ever heard on any amp.

-Let me tell you this for a start: a Blue Angel and a Custom Vibrolux cranked in stereo is a very fun time indeed.
The Blue Angel is a fantastic amp. In many ways it's like having a deluxe and an AC30 in one box, with great reverb.
It's a very simple amp, and unlike any other Mesa amp, despite having the 'dual rec' label (in this case, both run at the same time). One channel, no gain switching. Any overdrive you get is obtained by cranking the volume.
The supercool thing about it is the twin sets of power tubes: 6v6s at 18w, El84s at 30w, and both together at 38w. The thinking behind combining them is that each set of power valves counteract each other's weakness when heavily driven. This works to some degree, but I prefer the sound of each set by themselves.
The 6v6s have that wonderful wiry fender character about them, and the el84s are sparkly, balanced and clear.
Really nice amp.

There are plenty of amps that are like that, but they still sell extremely well (all the Dumble circuits come to mind). This leads me to believe that Mesa just didn't market the Blue Angel properly or maybe they tried to, but people couldn't understand how such a high gain amplifier company could create an amp that is targeted at "angelic" cleans instead. This just may be an instance where people have already prejudged Mesa because of their typical fan base and trademark sound (a rare time where a quality brand name is actually the factor why a quality product didn't sell).

I can't really add much else other than they are fantastic amps.
Single channel, Class "A", AMAZING reverb....can cover most duties other than metal.
It takes effects well, but I only use a wah, OD, & delay....
I had the 4x10(open back), running in the 6V6 mode(I actually used 6L6s....sounded warmer to me).....and a head into a closed back 4x10 cab on the EL84 setting & A/B'd them.
NICE NICE NICE!!!!
For added gain, I stuck a few 9th gen. Shuguangs in the head & it kicked it up.
OH....yeah, you need to crank it. Luckily, it takes to a Weber MASS very well:bigok:

very cool amp. the blue angel, maverick and lonestar special 30 are my three favorite mesa amps. they all have really nice clean tones and the mid gain tones are very sweet. ive played the blue angel quite a bit as a friend of mine has one and it really is a nice amp. not a high gain amp so if thats what you are looking for, look else where
