Mesa Boogie Cab Clone demo

Re: Mesa Boogie Cab Clone demo

No mention of price. My guess is that we will see a flood of more full-featured (and probably cheaper) things like this on the market over the next year.

Re: Mesa Boogie Cab Clone demo

Kinda small for a reactive load. Is this going to be a $700 box of big resistors?

Pretty much. THere's a part in the video that shows a bunch of resistors and an inductor which will be the EQ/voicing and a power resistor.

Nothing that hasn't been done before.

Re: Mesa Boogie Cab Clone demo

Ohms aren't switchable?

Yeah, +1 on that; makes the unit much less useful. Maybe there is some technical reason why they didn't; I don't know enough about electronics to speculate... ?

The SD "Cabaret"

The TC electronics "Hail Me A Cab"

Earthquaker devices' "Cabba Dabba Do"

Exactly! Not to mention the Joyo Cab Calloway and Behringer Cab'n Crunch

Re: Mesa Boogie Cab Clone demo

Man, this is already getting some flack? I think it's brilliant!
Its a great idea, but its been a great idea for a long time. Palmer has been doing it for decades, that torpedo c.a.b. does it better, and the Weber MASS probably does better and cheaper. The c.a.b. may sell for less strictly because this box of 200w tolerance resistors has Mesa stuck on it.

Yup, sounds like a cab sim. Doesn't sound much more realistic than a Sansamp.

Seems sort of like my Behringer Ultra-G load box/DI (with a few more bells & whistles)?

Re: Mesa Boogie Cab Clone demo

if you use headphones with it, would you control the volume with the DI level knob?

as mentioned, this would also work like an attenuator?
