Re: Mesa Boogie Combo
It really doesn't sound like a Mark IV or V, and it's HARD to use outside of a recording context. The Studio 22 is based on a Mark IIC+ or Mark III preamp, but unlike those true two channel amps, it doesn't have a lead master control. This leads to series volume balance issues where the clean channel is too quiet or the lead channel is too loud. The Studio 22+ fixed that issue, but it still wouldn't be a good bet for Lamb of God type tones. To get that sound from a Mesa, a closed-back cabinet and the graphic EQ are an absolute must. The Studio 22 is better suited to classic rock & blues tones.
