Hello,
Anyone plug into one or own it? I watched all the videos on it and it seems incredible.

Re: Mesa Boogie JP-2C

I have, about a month ago at a Mesa dealer in Seattle. Still trying to process the experience.

I have about ten Mesa amps right now: DC-3 combo, Maverick 212 combo, three Mark IIIs, a IV combo, a V combo, a V:25 stack, and bought a V:35 combo about three months ago, and a second Maverick up for sale. Total overkill, I know, but I LOVE these amps.

Being a classic rock and blues guy, I don't typically use a huge amount of distortion. So I wasn't expecting the JP to even come close to being an amp I'd want in my stable. Big surprise. I like the clean tones...basically the tones I use with the Mark V are right there. The two distortion channels have that great singing tone that Mesa's are known for...and a whole lot more. The word that comes to mind is "smooth". I would say that the Mark V has more variety of tones on tap, and more switching options...but the JP is more than a one-trick pony. I could definitely gig with this amp in my little wedding cover band. I use single coils and 2HBs, and this has real possibilities for use with multiple guitars.

I can't really justify this to my "financial advisor", but it definitely has me thinking.

I can add...this is an amp for a PRO. Bedroom wankers should look elsewhere.

Re: Mesa Boogie JP-2C

Thanks Bill,
Seems like your a long time Boogie Fan. Hardly no one around me in my area even carries Boogies on the floor anymore except Russo's in Trenton NJ. They have a very limited selection on the floor, Mostly 1x12 combo amps.
This amp to me seems to have everything I'm looking for.
1) Midi Control. This is something I find to be a huge deal. How the hell are you supposed to have an amp with many features and can't control them with one foot press? This is why I feel Midi is so important. It has it I'm in. Not many other Boogie amps I've seen even have Midi.
2) 3 Channels to me is key. I can have a beautiful Clean channel for all my clean work, then have a killer Crunch Channel and on top of all that have a soaring Channel for all kinds of stuff. This makes this amp really attractive.
3) Not one but 2 Eq's built in. How cool is that? And they can be pre selected by channel amazing right? I think John and Mesa really worked hard to get this amp right with todays standards and then some.
Honestly I think it's everything I wanted the EVH 50 watt III head to be and more. I returned that head due to the shared EQ section, Crazy volume jump and noisy hissy it was.
I could get very good tones out of that amp but the Shred EQ section killed it for me. The Crunch and Cleans should not have been shared, the Crunch and lead channel should have as if you think about it, your tonal settings except the amount of gain you use for those 2 channels are going to be a lot closer to each other then what you will dial in for Cleans. The clean channel needs to be independent and it wasn't and it drove me crazy.
I'm hoping someone in NYC will carry this amp on the floor as I want to make a day trip and go up there and visit the vast amount of music stores they have.
