Mesa Boogie tremoverb

Does anyone out there know about or own a Mesa Boogie Tremoverb? I currently own a Boogie Mark I but I'm looking for something else. Something a little more versitile. I also need it to be very reliable because I play out 3-4 times a week. I heard they sound good but get very hot and fry tubes rather easily. Give me some feed back

Re: Mesa Boogie tremoverb

I've found the sweet spot with mine. I run EL34s and get british-infused mesa tones that I can't get enough of. The cleans are fantastic, though I spend most of my time in od. Very natural sounding amp and has less of that rectifier after taste that can get a tad annoying. Given it is still very much a rectifier, and if your looking for versatility you may look towards a Mark IV. I can deal with a pretty simple rig, but I'm not sure about yourself. What are you looking to play on it?

We play everything from 70's disco and r&b to the killers. We are kind of like a rocked out wedding band. My guitar is a Paul Standard

Re: Mesa Boogie tremoverb

The T-verb is a VERY versatile amp and capable of anything from Country to Metal. I played one for almost 12 years and the 2 reasons I got rid of it are...

1 The combo was well over 100lbs and hard to cart around

2 It was too versatile....I spent all night twiddling knobs instead of playing.

The amp I had was a first production run and the roadworthyness was superb..I didn't have a breakdown for 10 years of steady gigging.

Re: Mesa Boogie tremoverb

Sold mine because of the terrible mosquitos in the preamp buzz.....I'm still very much a Marshall crunch/BF Fender clean kinda guy all these years though...Hate to stereo type, but I always felt the Tremoverb/Dual Rec series seemed suited more towards the metal guys? Sold mine...Great amp but wasn't my cup o tea for our blues/classic rock styles....

Re: Mesa Boogie tremoverb

Never tried a Tremo but I'm addicted to my Rectoverb... and I used to be a die hard Fender amp guy.. Mesa's good enough for my style (HEAVY) and who could rest that on-tap "overdrove" ha ha......

Re: Mesa Boogie tremoverb

I've looked into the Tremoverb Combo myself wanting to down size my rig from a halfstack to a combo.

I played one that had 2 of its power tubes pulled for 50 watts of juice and the pre amp tubes replaced with Groove 12ax7 mullards. I don't think there was a tone I didn't like out of it in the meager hour I played with it.

And I saw one go on ebay for $810 shipped just last week.
