Mesa F-100 schematic needed, a great idea - homemade hybrid boogie

I need schematics for the Mark 4 and F-100 boogies.
I found the mark 4 schematics, but need the F-100 schematcs.

ANYONE HAVE F-100 SCHEMATICS? PLEASE TELL!


I have an engineering friend who claims I could do a home made mesa boogie job for about 500-600 AUD.

I'm thinking 3 channels.
Channel 1 - F-100 channel 1
Channel 2 - Mk4 Channel 2
Channel 3 - F-100 Channel 2

6 outputs
2 4ohms, 2 8ohms, 2 16ohms.

Presence, Treble, Mid , Bass, Gain and Volume for each channel.

Master volume and Solo volume

100/60 watt switch

1 FX loop with a knob to turn the mix from 10% to 100% like on a boogie.

Footswitch will look like this:

Channel 1
Channel 2
Channel 3
Contour on/off (pretty sure this is just a mids boost)
Solo on/off
FX loop on/off (I will have a v-amp2 in the fx loop)


I have my enginnering friend with Sh!tloads of equipment, so He can do the mother board and wiring.

I have a signwriting friend who can make up badges and paint it.

I have plenty of carpenter friends who can assisst with head construction

And a few friends doing 'fine art' at University etc. They can do concept designs for looks.
I'm thinking GRANDOR written in the orange amp style so it looks heaps funky.
Black paint like the Mesa Boogie's normally.
Black grill at back so it can get air in and not just heat up on me and die.

Thats where i got the Mark 4 schematics from,
But that site doesnt have F-100 schematics.
I've emailed to see if he knows where I can find some.



Anyone else, Ideas for this amp im gonna get built?

Mesa makes a fairly strong effort to keep schematics of their current line of amps unavailable. They have requested many of the schematic sites to remove thier amps from thier offerings. I own a DC-5 and I called Mesa and asked them if I could get one. Since it was a discontinued item, and I owned one, they were more than happy to send me the schematic.

That said, you'll probably find one somewhere!

I dunno where to get that schematic, but personally, I'd go with a Laney VC30 for cleans, Mark IV for one dist. channel, and a single recto for the other dist. Maybe a silverface instead of the Laney, not sure. As for extra stuff, try to have maybe an overall FX loop, and one for each channel as well? Or a way to assign different channels to different cabinets? A built in noise gate, delay, or chorus? A built in huge LED tuner would be cool too...

The thing is, I love the 2nd channel on the F-100.
Clean channel - I'll have to research more into.

But I need the f-100 schematic.

Channel 1 just needs to be an awesome clean. (undecided (probably mark 4 channel 1)
Channel 2 needs to be a middle ground (jazzy), (Mark4 channel 2 is probably it)
Channel 3 needs to be shred/metal. (f-100 is definatly going here).

I dont want all that fancy crap like different channels for different cabinets or noise gates and crap like that.
I don't want a built in tuner, I'd have to turn around to tune up, and im too lazy to do that.

Out of interest, why do you need a 100/60w amp? You could perhaps make a really sweet lower wattage power section, and then have a lower wattage switch to make it REALLY sweet. Just an idea.

Also, be careful when you're building it. Power tubes, caps etc = high voltage, one of the reasons I decided against having a crack at building an amp with someone a few years ago. But if you're well aware of the safety issues, then go for it.

If you can't find the F-100 schem (you can't blame Boogie for not freely distributing schems of their current amps; they were more than happy to give me the DC-3 ones years ago because it was discontinued) then find out in the literature what the channel is supposed to be modelled after, and get the schem for that. For example, if you hadn't been able to get hold of the MkIV clean channel schem, I would have suggested getting a DC-3 schem, because it's based on the MkIV clean channel.

Ok StefanM,

1) the 100 is for just headroom, the 60 is for when I'm at home or at a smaller gig.
100 - for mega big venues which I hope to play in the future
60 - for medium/small venues which I play at now

4 6L6 Bank babe yeah!

2) As for all that power tubes, capacitators etc. I'm getting pretty much one of the best electricians around to wire the thing + my father is an electrician by trade. I wont be doing any of the actual internal stuff on my own.
(I can't even weld or solder properly)


3) At the moment I really have my sights set on the f-100 channel 2.



Due to me living in a city of about 300 000 people in Australia ( a small city compared to Calif. etc.) I dont have the same access to Laneys and DC-3's etc.etc. that other people do.
The mesa's we have locally are dual rectos, recto-verbs, nomads and F-series.
I have only heard mk4 clips, but it has a really good reputation for the channel 2.

Any more help?

I think it sounds pretty friggen nice. I don't know where you can find schematics, but let me know how the final product turns out. It sound like it's gonna rip.
