Mesa Mach IIC+ head: Need info.

Hey Guys!,
I just picked up one of these Holy Grail of tube amp heads recently and was wondering if any one else on this board owns one and how they set their tone and gain controls. This one is 100 watts with the 1/2 power switch, graphic EQ and reverb. Also!, what tubes sound best in one of these? It currently has Sovtek 5881's and Groove tubes 7025's.

I haven't a clue about tubes mate, but Metallica used that head on 'Master of Puppets' and Dream Theater's Petrucci used it until recently. So you should get some awesome tones from it.

My PODxt models one, but they limited the gain i can get on it, fools. Still, i'd love to own a real one.

Well, for starts - begin calling it by it's proper name series, the "Mark" IIC+. And I've never messed with one of those amps, but consider yourself lucky, those amps are hard to find.

I belive the word "Mach" is pronounced "Mark".
I wasn't sure of which spelling Mesa used for these amps. :smack:
Between the tone controls, all the pull knobs and the graphic EQ there's quite a bit of tweeking you can do to this amp. Even the 1/2 power switch (from 100 to 60 watts) effects the tone.
I do know for sure that to get the "Metallica" tone the EQ must be on and set in a "V" formation with the Bass boost pulled out and volume 1 and the Lead volume and Lead Master turned up quite high. :bigthumb:
