Yup. That's what mids in the EQ do for you. Scoop the mids, disappear. Turn them back up and be heard. I love it when newer players try to boost their leads with a scooped sound. It just doesn't work-out well. The best boost for leads is to push-up the mids. And it has the amazing effect of restoring natural harmonics and adding quality and dynamics back into the sound.

Single coils or buckers? Active or passive pups, dead batts in control cavity? Vol/tone pots clean or dirty? New cables, old, wireless, dead batts in the wireless? Dead batts in the pedals, wall warts crapping out? Lots of stuff affects volume; nail down everything b4 going to the tubes.

Either Eurotubes.com or thetubestore.com can help you out. Just tell them that they're for a Rectifier and they'll send you the correct matched tubes.
As for actually changing them... pull the old ones out and stick the new ones in. It's about as hard as changing a light bulb. Your Mesa manual even has a section in it telling you how to service the amp yourself.

i understand the whole no mids no cut through....whats neat about the Triple Rec. solo head.....the solo volume/switch ....separate volume for the solo button....which also boosts your mids allowing you to cut through the mix a little better so lead purposes.....my mids aren't totally scooped anyway...they are at 4....i think part of it had to do w/ my channel volumes...only issue now is if i crank the distortion channel volume, my clean channel doesn't come near to competing with the distortion channel...w/o distorting my cleans....it may be time to switch the tubes....i think for right now the change in individual channel volume was more than enough of a volume boost to fix my problem.... thanks for all the help guys!

Dime the clean channels master output and use it's gain knob to set that channels volume.
4 isn't that low... you should be cutting through fine.
That said, I ran similar volumes to you and it was defiantly loud.... as in, you could hear it for a couple of miles when used outdoors type loud. In my old house a friend of mine lived about 300ft away and he could hear/feel the bass inside his house and I practiced with all the windows closed/covered. Yelled at his kid once for it..... I don't think the problem is with your volume settings....

I've seen amps have this type of problem, with bad output transformers.......rather than guess, I'd take it to a qualified tech and have the whole circut checked out.
BTW, Getting lost in the mix is a problem with 75's.
