Thanks- andrew

Re: mesa online dealers?

im sure someone will chip in sometime soon, i know a handful of people have mesas on here...... sorry i cant help ya about the pricing

Re: mesa online dealers?

thanks anyways flank, i have a question though ok?

I went to guitar center today. We were talking about an upgrade to my crap SS amp. I want all tube. The guy said if i get a 50 watt all tube combo, ill blow it out by crnaking it. is this true? I was like wtf? He was i should just get a 100 watt head and cab. Im mostly a garage jammer. Next year might be playing small to medium sized gigs. (think highschool talent shows etc). WIll a 50 watt all tube mesa combo be enough power for my use? or should i try for a 100 watt road king or other? maybe marshall? anyways thanks again

Re: mesa online dealers?

thanks, so what about that marshall dsl100 package? i heard its a great high gain amp package. 1800 for the head and cab seems like a good deal (new). How would that head compare to say a mesa single rectofier?

Re: mesa online dealers?

That guys an ass who's trying to upsell you.

Tell him to go f*ck himself.

Tube amps are meant to be cranked. The only problem you might run into with a 50w head is running out of headroom (that's when you want a loud clean sound but your amp keeps distorting). On the other hand, if your a garage player that low headroom will help you to distort at quieter levels. That's a call you have to make.

Re: mesa online dealers?

so im thinking of going dsl50/1960a package? this sounds awesome. I mean its got two channels with switchable modes, what more could i ask for? thoughts?

Marshalls and Mesas are like apples and oranges. They sound quite different from each other.

Play both, listen to recordings made with both. Then make the choice.

Re: mesa online dealers?

50 watts would be plenty enough man..... although the 100 would be nice to have for: 1. headroom....and 2. just knowing the fact that youve got more power (however, technically, 100 watts is only 3 decibels louder than 50.....so its not going to even appear that much louder than 50 watts, just more headroom)...

i would surely look for something used.....i mean there is a DSL100 FULL stack here in the local classifieds for $1400........ you can easily find used DSLs for 700-800, and a used marshall cab for 300-400

Re: mesa online dealers?

alright thanks again. so another question. what cab would go with the dsl50? i mean would it need a 4X12? or would it sounds good with a 2X12? thanks

Re: mesa online dealers?

yeah i think your on the right track with the DSL, i love it WAY more than those mesas, but thats just my preferance....

the DSL has really nice cleans, a good crunchy classic rock sound, and is capable of getting some classic metal tones (think Randy Rhoads), although not death metal and stuff like that (mesa might be better for that)

i would go for a used Marshall 1960A cab, i recently got one off a guy for $350 used....... the 4X12 provide more bottom end and punch, and better projection of sound (which is good in the case of a talent show like you said you might be up for)......2X12's are nice, they have a more focused sound, but i like 4X12s better, not too mention that halfstacks look much sweeter than the head sittin on the 2X12

You wouldn't need a 4x12, but if you want more sound dispersion and don't mind hauling it around, get one. I'm fine with a 2x12.

Re: mesa online dealers?

Got a Recitifer fan right here. The Single Series II is 1100 new. It's a GREAT amplifier. I personally like it more than the DSL's for its fat, thick, and tight attack. Not to mention it's gain is insane! I love it to death, do me a favor and give it a try back to back with the Super Lead and try not to be biased towards either until comparing.

Re: mesa online dealers?

If you need two different EQs for clean and gain channels, dont get a DSL. That and the power were my only beef with this amp. Cleans = Good, Gain = nothing to joke about. You missed my killer deal on my DSL100 with a 2x12 cab by about 2 monthes bro.

Re: mesa online dealers?

IMO the DSL 50 Rules...Im using it through a 4x12 ,i get excellent cleans and killer drive..

And in Europe, that i know of theres 2 online places that do Mesa..

www.musicstore.de

and i think

www.thomann.de (not too sure on that one..)

Re: mesa online dealers?

thanks again guys, hows the single rectrifier series combo? will this be enough? id not like to carry a 4X12 around the whole time (we usually practice once or twice a week and i dont feel like leaving a stack at his house). So another question is how much is the road king 2X12 combo? im thinking of either going for the road king combo, the recoverb 50 watt combo, or maybe check out the marshall combos, thanks!

p.s any other suggestions to check out would be cool (i play mostly thrash metal, hair metal, and hard rock, so i can live with just an ok clean sound)

thanks

Re: mesa online dealers?

Well in that case i'd say a Marshall wouldnt suit you as well as a Mesa or other Higher gain amps would..

And Zerb, Is the www.nom.de right? cos when i try go to it,it claims that the site doesnt exist...could be my browser though..
