Re: Mesa Rectoverb comments?
I have a Rectoverb. While it's not the do-all amp, it has great tone and reliability. I prefer mine with EL34's, and I believe B2D does also. It gives it a more vintage feel / tone to it and not so much bottom end. While I was running 6L6's I always felt the low end was a bit boomy. The cleans are... ok. No Fender, but they are nice. Actually with the Electro Harmonix tubes I am running now, it's similar to an old Marshall with that oomph. The overdrive, of course is where it is at.
While it is in the same family with the Duels and Triples... I don't feel it has the gain of either... and I find that a plus for my style(s). It also seems warmer and somewhat "cleaner". I didn't know this until I had bought my Rectoverb and went back and played a Dual.
My opinion... I love it! It's not just for metal, or even hard rock. I can do great blues on it too. Later, I may buy a Fender for the cleans, but I am content at the moment with this one :32:
