Actually it's not on Ebay so :P. And I just PMed you about that actually :).

Re: Mesa Rectoverb comments?

One thing that I think that I need to question... I don't think that this is an amp that you will dig at bedroom volumes. It really needs to be cranked a bit to really show its stuff. Not that you have to kill people with it, but you can't have it turned down low enough so that you can hear the TV over it. It really needs to be cranked up a bit to shine. I love mine, but you have to use it in the right context, IMO. You should also have a firm grasp of the "cascading gain" concept, a constant with all Boogies.

Re: Mesa Rectoverb comments?

No worries in that department, I have a small SS combo that I use for playing at lower volumes, like when I'm working on a technique with a metronome or just noodling in my room. This amp will be for jams, gigs, and chances I get to crank it at my house. Basically what I was using the huge rack setup for, which could get pretty loud itself (130 watt SS power amp).

As far as the cascading gain comment, I think I have some idea what you're talking about just not termed that way. Might I get someone to clarify the terminology?

Re: Mesa Rectoverb comments?

Just got done with a little phone demo care of GuitarGuy, sounds pretty sweet and right up my alley. I think I'm going to pull the trigger on this deal, seems like a great price for the amp in the condition it's in. Thanks for letting me phone you man, you rock.

No problem dude, anything I can do to help. Hopefully the demo gave you a really good idea of what you can expect from a Series 1 Rect-O-Verb. As you can tell you can get a pretty good variety of sounds out of them. :) Keep rockin forum bro, and keep us posted. :headbang: :)

Re: Mesa Rectoverb comments?

I really like the way that tweed looks, very sharp :).

The head will be here Tuesday.

Now I need to figure out what speakers to put in my Avatar 2x12: 2 Celestion V30s, a V30/G212H mix, or Eminence V12s (which I have been recommended for Mesas). Any thoughts?

Re: Mesa Rectoverb comments?

I'm thinking of going with the V30/G212H cab, but was looking for input on the Eminence speakers if anyone has 'em.

Re: Mesa Rectoverb comments?

FretFire,

A Mesa 4x12 cab loaded with Vintage 30's is what you heard yesterday when you called. I played about 2 hours after I got off the phone with you and was in tone heaven. :32: Definately can't go wrong with a set of Vintage 30's. :32: :)

Re: Mesa Rectoverb comments?

Fret,

You could also look into a set of Mesa/Boogie Black Shadow 90 Celestions. Supposedly they are very similar to the Vintage 30's but slightly brighter sounding.

The Mesa C90's are closer to the Classic Lead in sound. A little more top and bottom, and slightly scooped sounding.

Aren't the G12H30's Marshall Celestion Speakers? It sounds familar to me..... :smack:

G12H30 and G12H are the same thing. They're a great sounding speaker as well.

Marshall uses G12T-75s, Vintage 30's (they call them Marshall/Celestion Vintage 70w speakers), and Greenbacks.

Personally, I have a V30 loaded 4x12 and it kicks ass.

Re: Mesa Rectoverb comments?

Thanks guys, I ordered a 2x12 cab from Avatar last night with one V30 and one G12H, it's their "G212H special". Should be pretty sweet.

Oh and only the series 2 Rectoverbs have the bias switch.

Re: Mesa Rectoverb comments?

if only the series 2 have the bias switch, do i have to bring my series 1 head to a tech to put new tubes in, or can i pop them in myself?
