Mesa's Electra dyne or Vox AC30HW

Re: Mesa's Electra dyne or Vox AC30HW

I decided to go ahead with the Mesa Boogie Electra dyne afters days of research and questioning.
I just placed the order yesterday and should arrive by next week.
I will also try to put up some sound clips and pics if possible for those who are interested in the Electra Dyne

Currently in China for a work trip, won't be seeing the amp until next week.
Will keep posted

thanks again to all and your inputs

Good luck to the OP.

I lived in Japan for three years. The good people there may not always appreciate the fine art of tube-amplified rock guitar.

Honestly, from the original poster's description, I'm not sure he could play a Martin D-18, never mind a Mesa half-stack.

Hope it works out, though.

Hey Ink

I didn't get the half stack .. I think it will be an overkill not to mention just a combo to a certain extent.

I gotten the 1x12 combo instead.
I strum the songwriter almost every other day. No complaints .. thank God for that. Anyway, the place is made of concrete wall and corner+isolated unit.
I don't know about the neighbors downstairs.

We shall see again.

Looks great man. Remember that those knobs have a HUGE range of variation in them, especially the treble. Very cool amp!

FWIW, I think you made the right choice. I like Voxes, but the AC15 I had was unusable in an apartment setting, nevermind an AC30 (that would be unbelievably loud "and" heavy). Most of the Mesas I've played sound pretty darn good at low volumes thanks to the heavy preamp design's influence on the overall tone and character.

Hey bros ..
Thanks for the comment
I'm only enjoying it every Saturday and probably Sunday.

Only bust I did was I ran out of 9v daisy chain sockets. So I gotta get spares.
Weekdays i come home late! Still can play though, but the tiredness is really something
I see if I can record some clips and let yer guys hear it this weekend.

I played the amp clean without the pedals ... fwah .. to my ears, this is amongst the best cleans I ever heard.
Anyone who wanna get a single-Channel amp, high powered and state of the art (non hand-wired) technology, this is it.

Re: Mesa's Electra dyne or Vox AC30HW

One thing you may want to try is to put your Boss EQ, purple flanger?, and Boss DD in your amp's FX loop. Use the volumes on those to choke down the volume between the pre and power sections on the Mesa. They'll probably sound better in the loop too. Continue using the dirt pedals in front of the amp, and leave all your pedals right where they are on the board.

This is an old trick for reigning in the volume, although it's not technically attenuation.
