I'm getting an 01 M/B mark IV short head this week.
Yes, its the one I bought 2 months ago...

I need to change the tranny.
A buddy of mine did the same thing but bought a big step down transformer (7kg's) for it, that he lugs everywhere as well as his nomad 100 head and boogie 4x12.
I can do that.

OOOR, I can get a tranny change, and put a new transformer inside the boogie. A trusted family friend will do this who is an electrictian.

What would you do?

Re: Mess around inside a boogie?

Forget the trusted family friend. He hasn't seen the inside of a Mesa recently.
It's more than likely the job of a pro amp tech or Mesa authorized service center.

Re: Mess around inside a boogie?

I have no problems lugging around my step down transformer, I just put it in the bag along with the rest of my gear. Yeah it's heavy but not as heavy as the cab or the head.

Re: Mess around inside a boogie?

I'd either use a stepdown tranny, or a correct European MkIV tranny ordered from Mesa.

Re: Mess around inside a boogie?

OH i get it cuz this thing runs on American power and you're in Australia... OK i get it now. I was like UMMM why does this guy need a new tranny? Tone mod?
