met a Mesa/Boogie rep in GC (transatlantic)

met a super cool boogie rep in GC the other day - very cool dude! he was really plugging the transatlantic. he described everything it can do, had it on every conceivable setting, put it through 2 cabs. he and the amp were very cool! just sayin' y'all. if I were looking for a nice little head, he would have sold me on the transatlantic!

oh yeah, I asked him why they stopped making tube pedals like the V-twin. he said since they are made on the same production lines as full heads, the overhead cost was so high they'd have to really bump up the cost of the pedals to near full amp price, and they knew people would want to pay that much for them so they made the decision to stop production.

I have seen people bash the TA for having annoying hiss in the cleans when on the higher wattage settings. Any sign of that?

I can say that I've played 2, and really pushed them hell out of them on all channels, and didn't see this as a problem.

Looks interesting. Details say it has 4 x 12AX7 but I only see 3 in the pics on Mesa's site. I know it will do good cleans, but how are the crunch and gain sounds? Is the british tone really british? One of these micro amps may be my best bet for a tube amp while I live in a condo. I want a Marshall 2205 but I will never be able to turn it up loud enough here to get any decent sounds out of it.

british in a zepplin kinda sound. I was secretly wanting to hear it with an OD pedal, and he even said it was the type of amp to require an OD for higher gain type stuff. he was pulling off some cool zep riffs with it. I tried to do some diamond head and maiden, and it was a little lacking in the gain department, but the tone was neat.

I think he kept it on the 5 watt and the next stage up. he only cranked the volume when in 5-watt mode, and it sounded pretty cool, not hissy. wasn't hissy on clean that I could notice.
