Re: Metal covers for P-90s
Davey and LSP lets get real!
After my last post I recalled LSP musing about burnt fret wire, not possible on the normal stuff as it is nickel loaded brass, but the new stainless steel wire WELL as it has a chrome content the possibilties are endless...
The blue and yellow colours are due to minor oxides forming due to heat in the cobalt and nickel (and other metals) in the plating. The chrome is, possibly, the canvas just as the Polish proverb says "Fish must swim three times; water, wine and butter."FOOD!
Sorry to be Uber Geek but part of my day job 'sob' is to weld and I can just about tell what is what makes up the metal I've welded by the colour of the fantail. Heat trace.
LSP your right about the tuners, my old Schaller Mini's might take the heat but the headstock WILL at the least smoulder!
