Metal Guitar for £500-700

Hey guys, I’m looking to buy a guitar in the £500-£700 range, I listen to bands like black label society, Metallica, iron maiden, cradle of filth, Amon Amarth etc. I would be using it in d standard and drop c so bands like black label society, disturbed, system of a down, bullet for my valentine and cradle of filth are the main focus.

I would prefer it to be a hard tail bridge(if not then a non-locking tremolo like the ones on PRS’s) and have passive pickups(preferably Seymour Duncan’s) in HH or HSH configurations although active shouldn’t be too big a deal. It has to be either set neck or set through and have 24 frets although I will make do with 22. Also individual volume knobs for each pickup would be ideal as well as locking tuners or at least 14:1 ratio tuners. Also, and this is a must, I don’t want an ‘s’ shape guitar like a strat or any other guitar body shape like that. I would prefer the guitar to be made in Korea or Indonesia(or US or UK but I doubt there’s anything in my budget)

I play through a blackstar HT Club 50 with a Blackstar HT212 cab(celestion seventy 80 speakers). The amp is supposedly voiced to be like a marshal.

I'd recommend going to a store with a good selection and trying out what suits you the best in terms of feel.

One really awesome guitar I can recommend to you is the Jackson Dominion. I love Lamb of God and their style, this guitar is awesome for metal. The pickups in this beast are my favorite for metal of all subgenres. It has pretty much all the appointments you want and has a interesting shape.

Don't know what's available on that side of the pond. But for that kind of money, you should be able to get something solid. Hagstrom? Ibanez has some nice LP styles.

I would imagine Chapman guitars are very competitive pricewise around those places, right?
Those things are very Metal oriented. I've tried a few and they were pretty solid, with quality hardware.

You should be able to pick a nice new or almost new Schecter for about as much. Since I've been out of the loop, I honestly don't know whether things changed for the better or worse but they used to be very competitive on quality/value about 2 years ago.
Spec-wise a bullseye, too.

Nowadays in England, Schecters are pretty overpriced for what they are. The quality and components just don’t stand up to other guitar brands in the same price range.

I’m not too keen on any of the standard range chapmans, particularly the gloss finishes and bolt on necks etc. but the pro range are just out of budget

Ibanez, as mentioned, is always a great choice. I would also suggest B. C. Rich, you probably will need to do a pickup swap. However, the construction and playability of the B.C. Rich guitars is very nice. Keep away from the active pickup models they need way too much electronics work for a pickup swap. I got my Mockingbird for $400 USD durring a Stupid Deal of the Day. They also make many hardtail models.
