Metal Muff With Top Boost

Guys any comments.My sound is grungy,a friend recomended it ,i'm going to GC tommarow to try it out.Any input will be highly appreciated.THANX in advance.

I bet you're gonna dig it. I've got a Digitech Distortion Factory, and love the extra tone controls on the Big Muff setting.

I can't imagine the real thing being anything but better.

The Metal Muff is nothing like a Big Muff, it is more of a high gain distortion pedal. I haven't tried one, but the clips I've heard put it at the top of my list to try if I ever need a high gain pedal.

i've read that if you dial it like a Big Muff (lots of bass, some mids, no treble) it sounds like a Big Muff, then it can go other directions with all the EQ settings on tap...I really want one.

True, NOTHING like a Big Muff - atleast not on the MF-site clips - have not tested one yet myself !

For grungy-stuff there is always the Digitecj GRUNGE pedal, but i DO NOT like that one at all, when i tested it !
The Metal Muff might be more to your liking, but, staying in the EHX camp, another pedal that think will sound FANTASTIC with a lite-grung outfit, is the GRAPHIC FUZZ !!!

But do not judge the unit on the MF clips !
Do a Youtube search and listen to that !
(...EHX made some officail vid. clips for some of their units - very good!)

I AM GETTING ONE ASAP !

I picked up a metal muff about a week ago, really impressed by it. You can get all kinds of tones from it with the seperate EQs. Massive amoount of distortion available too.

The only advice I can give you is when the sales rep comes upto you, ask him where the Metal Muff is and then tell him to go away! GC Reps suck, they know about as much as a two year old would know about guitars and gear. The other day I went it the the local GC to kill some time and over heard one of the reps talking to one of the younger customers about how great and legendary Led Zeppelins bassist was.....you know John Bohnam.......what a freakn' jackass! Trust me just find a nice little corner of the store and try out the pedal and if a rep comes near you start yelling at him in a foreign language till they run the other direction.

Its got a ton of gain on board, it could well simply be down to that. If you turn down the distortion knob it goes away, it can get noisy once really cranked up. I run the gain low and the volume high, just to push my amp harder. Also, the top boost adds a lot of nise when engaged, but ts there for solos, so there isn's usually much room for the noise!

i bought the full-sized version, got addicted, bought all the manifestations. it's like this- if you like fuzz but wish it was fine-tuned to metal, you'll like the MM.

mainly EQ & top boost. if you don't have any use for the top boost but like the MM for its drive, the NANO version is recommended.

That's cool. You have all 3 versions. I have had my eyes on these, but I wasn't sure which one to go with. Generally, I like to explore low-gain settings of heavy distortion pedals.

guys strange that my muff creates a lot of noise wiith my Les paul and is dead quiet with Mustang with Dimarzios?

might be the LP, not the MM... it's quiet with mine (other guitars as well).
