Metal/Shred Alnico Pickups for HSS Strat

I have a maple neck American HSS Strat with a maple neck. The SCNs are ok and the stock humbucker sucks. I want to change them out for something that's good for Metal and Shred/Solo work.

I don't like ceramic pickups, but don't want to make my Strat sound too trebly. Anyone have any recommendations?

How about the Blaze pickup from Dimarzio, they made it for Steve Vai to warm up his strats. Whether or not Vai's sound is considered shred I cannot say, it is Alnico 5 and right in the middle of the output range.

if you are using 500k pots, then maybe a Breed, Norton, or Air Zone
JB or Evo2 might work if you are using 250k pots.

Full Shred is Alnico 5, and great for a lead guitar/superstrat. If that's a little too trebly then maybe the Custom 5 would fit the bill. In either case, you could just install 250k pots if the treble is too cutting. Then, the single coils could be a lot of different things. If you wanted stacks, the Classic Stack Plus is great, and for straight singles, a nice APS pair would do well. If you want an out front solo neck pickup tone, try the Custom single.
