Hi guys.
So, I'm planning on doing a metal tele build. I'm currently looking at a squire affinity tele (SS, all stock, second hand).
What electronics should I put in it to make it "metal worthy"? I play mainly old-school thrash.
Thanks in advance :)

OH! I opened this up thinking it was a Tele made of actual metal (one of our forum members makes these)! As far as pickups go, Black Winters will metal that Tele up in no time.

Re: Metal telecaster build

For old school thrash, don't be afraid of single coils. Your amp & pedals are WAY more important than pickups.

Gibson Flying V with Distortion set into a Deluxe Reverb won't sound very thrashy.

Danelectro with lipstick pickups with a Tubescreamer into a Marshall JCM800 will sound way more thrashy.

So you're not building a Tele out of metal? ***inserts disappoint meme***

You're going to build some Metal from a Tele?

I'd get the neck fat fretted with lower action for thrash.

DiMarzio Choppers/Fast Track

or a Duncan Hot Rails bridge.

Re: Metal telecaster build

If you're intention is to trick it out with hot humbuckers, just go get a Jackson or Ibanez.

Re: Metal telecaster build

Jeez, fellas, negative much? It is a perfectly good plan and a very straightforward question.

Angelt24: if you want to keep it s/s then Aceman's recommendations are probably good. If you want to go full-size humbuckers then just drop in whatever the players you like use, or the Black Winters Mincer recommended.

Good luck and rock on!

Hi y'all.
Thanks very much for the replies.
I have decided on the electronics (Obsidian Wire Solderless Kit) and pickups (DiMarzio Chopper bridge/Fender standard tele pickup neck).
Cheers!
