metalize my double fat Strat

I've got a Fender Double Fat Strat (alder body, maple neck & fretboard, OFR, 2 hum) that I want to turn into a fire-breathin old-school metal machine :firedevil:headbang:

my Strat is nice and pretty lookin...I want it to be a wolf in sheep's clothing. raging tight metal crunch and harmonix up the arse.

also, in addition to awesome crunch and soloing, I love, L-O-V-E electric clean tone!!!!!!!!!! that spooky heavy metal "intro clean" with delay and a touch of chorus.

which pair of humbuckers would be a good start? any brand is okay with me, but passives only.

my amps are a Marshall 2203 stack fronted with a Matchless Cool Box booster, and a Fender Twin.

thanks!

Re: metalize my double fat Strat

you're setup screams full shred set;) if you're wondering what the full shreds sound like, listen to some holy diver:fing2:
if you want more of an iron maiden type sound, go for a dimarzio set: paf pro neck and a super distortion bridge.

Re: metalize my double fat Strat

I'd go withone of 3 sets:

Dimarzio Super D/Humbucker from Hell
Duncan Distortion/Jazz
EMG 81/60

He said passives only, or I was gonna suggest Blackouts myself, they fit the bill for him to a T.

As it is, I'd go Duncan Distortion bridge /jazz neck. I prefer the 59 myself, but the Jazz is better for those cleans.

Re: metalize my double fat Strat

PATB-1 bridge and PATB-1N (if you want beefy),

Full shred set, (This may be your best choice for what you want)

DD/Jazz, hard to beat for metal in any guitar.

RIGHT! :smack:

Gotta read more carefully.

Sub the 81/60 combo for a Dime/59 then .
