Selling a rare early-'90s Yamaha Pacifica 921 in hot metallic pink!

The Pacifica series was designed in the late '80s with the help of Rich Lasner (Ibanez RG/JEM, Maxxas and Modulus fame) to be the ultimate super-strat. The Pacifica 921 was the top-of-the-line model at the time and, as such, came loaded with only the absolute best components available (Gotoh hardware, DiMarzio pickups, Warmoth built neck etc.) and sported innovations such as the "Total Access" neck joint and a unique height-adjustable locking nut that make them superior in many ways to most guitars made even today! A custom Floyd Rose bridge and large jumbo frets were combined with a thin neck profile to facilitate the "shredders" of the day, while the thin and very lightweight Swamp Ash body offered both extended playing comfort and killer tone! The custom DiMarzio pickups are exceptionally versatile and sound incredible, able to cover any musical style!

  • Custom DiMarzio USA pickups in H-S-H configuration
  • Precision "RM-PRO II" Floyd Rose tremolo bridge
  • 9.5"-16" Compound Radius Rosewood fretboard
  • Thin "C" neck contour
  • 22 Dunlop 6100 "Jumbo" frets
  • 25.5" scale length
  • 1-11/16" (43mm) nut width
  • Chrome hardware
  • Lightweight Swamp Ash body
  • Solid Maple neck

This guitar is in excellent shape for its age, rating a solid 9 out of 10 for condition! There are a few small marks, including a tiny ding at the back corner of the trem rout, a small indentation about the size of a pencil tip by the lower neck plate and a couple parallel scratches near the lower control cavity on the back, but the finish is really in awesome shape overall, the hardware looks great and the frets are practically new, showing almost no wear at all! This guitar obviously spent most of its life in a case.

Those were basically Ibanez JEM killers, awesome guitars, wish I could find one in yellow

If you're worried about not having enough "hair" to pull off this guitar, I'll throw in a free wig with purchase! Be sure to specify your desired hair color and cut (mullet, long curls, etc.)

Re: Metallic Hot Pink Yamaha Pacifica 921 - Get your hair metal on!

I have wanted this guitar for 24 years. Odd that at this moment I am just as broke as when I was 18.

I owe a large sum to unca sam.. so no return for me. I need another floyd guitar like I need a johnson reduction, but tempation is brootal. not big on the color, but I have a serious addiction to great and unique 80s axes

Is the little silver bar above the back cavity plate a second neck mount? if so, the neck is set deep huh?

Yep, those silver bars are both neck mounting plates!

You can thank Rich Lasner for some seriously forward-thinking on these early Pacificas! He came up with this joint after developing other industry-changing innovations like the Maxxas guitar and the Ibanez "AANJ" (All-Access Neck Joint). The following picture isn't of this particular guitar, but was taken of a neck removed from a 921 just like it:

The design allows for a lot of neck-to-body contact without added bulk. The body at the neck pocket is surprisingly thin and the attachment force is spread out deeper into the body, making a very solid and surprisingly resonant/toneful connection that feels ultra-stable when playing, while providing uninhibited access to every fret!

When Rich went to work for Peavey briefly in the '90s, a simplified, but very similar, joint appeared on their upper-tier guitars. Personally, I think this Pacifica design was the best to be had!

Fun Fact: Warmoth custom produced the necks for these and they are amazing! Also, did you know the locking nut is height-adjustable? Friggin' awesome!
