Re: Metlalica-One
Well first of all, it was good for how little time you've been playing for.
There are some good parts and not so good parts. Some of your lead technique has developed really quickly, even more so than a lot of your rythem. That being, you really should concentrate on getting the rythem parts down perfectly before you attempt to play all of the fast solo stuff. The harmonies went out of time with each other a fair bit. You've got your galloping picking down pretty good.
With the absence of a backing track, the guitar sounds very lonely also. Try using a midi backing track in your mix that will help bring the cover to life. The drums play a large part of impact of "One". Then you should double track each heavy ryhtem guitar part by recording them each twice, and then panning one to the far left, and the other to the far right. You'll get a very full sound with this. This all assuming that your computer has the cabability to do all this.
Try moving the microphone a bit closer to the speaker cone of your amp, the guitars sound a bit distant and have a weak signal.
Just keep practicing throughout your teens and you should be a very good player by the time you hit 20. Don't be lazy like me.
