metronome: digital versus mechanical?

Re: metronome: digital versus mechanical?

I use a 30 year old digital one, which only has a woodblock sound. I can even put it under my leg when I practice and not hear it, but feel the vibrations of the speaker. Mechanical ones are simply not as accurate and get worse over time.

+1

This has been my experience as well. A digital metronome is tougher, you can turn the volume up/down on it, you can use it with headphones, it's more portable (if you need to take your stuff somewhere), it's more accurate. I've been using a Korg digital tuner for more than 10 years. I have a mechanical one, but it never gets any use.

Re: metronome: digital versus mechanical?

My wife loves the mechanical one I got. Case closed. Thanks for the input.

Re: metronome: digital versus mechanical?

I think the mechanical is like vinyl. It is irrelevant

Vinyl irrelevant? Hmmm...

The mechanical serves it's purpose for the given, very specific situation.

Thread closing now. Thanks for the input, all.
