I heard from this salesman in NY that the Mex strats are climbing up, means to say its getting better. My friend bought a Mex-made thinline 72' tele, the sound and touch is kindda unique compared to an actual US made tele.

I would say that is true.... every year the Mexican line gets better. I really do enjoying the fact Fender now says they use Alder bodies for the Mexican Standard Strat model... I was debating weather or not to pick a new one up and unloud one i have that sucks for sound.... I also do have to say that i enjoy the Ceramic pickups in the Mexican Standard as well... My 1999 Mex Standard i like a lot.... I could see if that guitar had rounded fingerboard edges and larger frets that it could feel more like an American strat. On one of my Mexicans that has a Rosewoodboard i rounded the edges with a metal rod... Dented in the sharp corners very carefully.. Can't be done on an all maple neck because of the finnish...

Someone once posted that there is replacement trem blocks designed for Mexican Strat bridges made with thicker and better metals... That is said to be a great upgrade for better tone.. Anyone know what company makes that replacement block?

Re: Mexican Strat Question

I was thinking and suggested to my friend. If I were to have a Mexican-made guitar, why not get a finished Strat body from warmoth and then transfer everything across. And since the neck is bolted on, it could just be unscrewed and screwed on the warmoth body and then get it setup/intonated. So its a Mexican neck + USA body. how nice
Prolly a change in the pickups also

And the beauty of it is that its customised =)

Sounds easy, but I wouldn't know how tedious it would be

Re: Mexican Strat Question

You aren't doing much by swapping other than just getting a neck that feels better to you. The truth is the MIM necks and bodies are made in the US, they are just assembled in Mexico.
