Mexican Tele pickup selection

I recently picked up a $400 mexi tele at GC I love the tones I can get with the neck pickup dirty and clean... but I have been playing a Les Paul for most of my life and I would like to get a little bit closer to that sound with the bridge pickup. I guess what im looking for is a humbucker that is a little bit warmer so I can get smoother distortion. Obviously it wont sound exactly like a les paul, thats not what I want I just love the clean tones i get from the tele and would like to make it a little bit more versitle because I use very smooth tube screamer dirt a lot too. Could you guys recommend me a tele bridge pickup?

Also on a side note, I have heard that the electronics in these mexi teles is not up to par with the american made ones..is there anything else I should consider changeing out while im working on it? Pots? Switches? wiring?
Thanks,
Joel

by the way..I play through an ac30cc1 and a fender blues deluxe (blues deluxe is my backup)

The Lil 59 for Tele bridge is more in the PAF sound. The Hot Rails for Tele is a totally different animal. I would not agree that all MIM teles are made with inferior electronics. Often, they are good buys at $400 or less. My issues have been with the finish on the wood in the past and poor sounding pickups. The new ones are pretty well made.

Re: Mexican Tele pickup selection

I don't have experience with MIM Tele's, but I have a 94 MIM Strat and just out of what I've heard people say, I swapped out the electronics for CTS pots and what not, and some new SD pickups. Just gives you the insurance that things should not crap out on as quick.

I've heard alot of people talk about the switches being bad or can go quickly. Most new wiring kits can be picked up for $25-40 depending on what components you use.

Enjoy your MIM....I know there are alot of us who do.
