MF wants $69 to ship a 20lb amp ? BS!

I'm not one to fly off on a rant (usually) but this has me pissed.

Musician's Friend, a fine online retailer who've I've always had good experiences with, and on of the first to offer free shipping on orders over $99 really pissed me off.

I was set to buy a Peavy JSX MIni Colassal to give it a try. Its a little 5 watt tube combo if your not familiar.

Well MF's for some idiotic reason says that "due to size/weight" its an extra $69 shipping surcharge.

Hello ???

This thing is 13x14x9" and weights 20lbs. What the hell huh ?

At the same time a 54lb Hot Rod Deville which is over twice the size and nearly 3 times the weight ships free.

Sorry but they lost a sale on that one. ZZounds has the same thing with FREE shipping.


Sorry MF but I'm not padding your bottom line letting you make a huge profit on shipping me a small amp.

I just shipped a guitar from Japan and it wasn't even $70

On a side note let us know how you like that Mini Colossal. I heard Joe Satch's demo of it and it sounded rad.

Trying calling customer service. I made order for my friend before and we ordered just before they had a sale promotion for guitars. So I called them and they gave me the discount on the guitar I ordered previously. They should able to adjust the bill if you paid already or are going to pay.

Yeah, shop around. Alot of places ship stuff for free. I'll shop around until I find a place that charges no shipping and no tax.

+1 for American Musical Supply. if you actually check out customer ratings on shopping search engines like bizrate, you'll see how low musicians friends ratings are (and trust me, they are LOW.) AMS get much much much higher ratings, and everything over $50 gets shipped for free. these are based off of thousands of reviews, mind you
