I am WOWed, esp since some use Bogner XTC's / Fender amps in many, so I am very familiar with the raw tone of these amps.

I love all the PEDALS, but mostly the CRUNCH BOX

Check 'em out and tell me if you have any experiences with them.

A lot of folks like 'em over at the Gear Page so run a search there, you'll find plenty of info ;)

Re: Mi Audio Pedals - Wow These Samples Rock!

I've got the Tube Zone and it kicks ass!!

I'd like to check out the blue boy deluxe :)

Re: Mi Audio Pedals - Wow These Samples Rock!

i was just talking about these with a few people and i was blown away with what the tube zone can do. from a little boost to a little grilt to all out metal. i'm sold and it's the next pedal i buy!

Re: Mi Audio Pedals - Wow These Samples Rock!

I love my Crunchbox...its gotta be one of the best Marshall toned pedals out there...... and inexpensive.

Re: Mi Audio Pedals - Wow These Samples Rock!

I love my Crunchbox, although since I've got my Splawn I don't use it much anymore. I really liked setting the OD channel on my 2210 to mostly clean and then running the CB. I'm going to keep it around for a little while longer I think, and at least give it a shot with my Splawn. Supposedly they are coming out with a compressor and delay in the near future as well.

Re: Mi Audio Pedals - Wow These Samples Rock!

I like (d) the samples of the Blue Boys Deluxe, and always thought i'd get one, someday - almost as an upgrade on my Boss BD-2 !

Looks like that will not happen any more.
My BD-2 is safe, probably for ever, because there is another MI Audio pedal that i just have to have !
It is the cheaper OD, the Blues Pro OverDrive, but with MI Audio's very own "Fuzz-mod" !!!
Just listen to this tasty fuzzy clip . . .

. . . this tone screams my name !

Not a "nice-to-have", but a "Must-Have" pedal !!!

Cheers

Re: Mi Audio Pedals - Wow These Samples Rock!

Another +1 for the MI Audio Crunch Box. That little red box screams!

Re: Mi Audio Pedals - Wow These Samples Rock!

OK if I want some nice smooth gain and lead tones, nasty crunch with both the clean channel and gain channel on my Shiva do I get the Crunch Box or Tube Zone?

Users please let me know!

Re: Mi Audio Pedals - Wow These Samples Rock!

From my experience the Crunch Box is best used through the clean channel. Very high gain pedal but also very articulate. I use mine with the gain around 10:00- 11:00 and that's plenty to give a cranked Marshall tone. Seems most think the TZ is smoother.

Check out this Tube Zone vs. Crunch Box thread! Post #17 is from the builder and he gives advice on how to get tones close tp the CB with the TZ

wow I am reading

thing is, as of late - I have not found the Distortion I want to run thru my clean channels. The OCD is not quite my flavor lately, so I am wondering if the CB or TZ might be the ticket? hmmmmmmmmm

Re: Mi Audio Pedals - Wow These Samples Rock!

I'll try to get some Crunch Box clips up this weekend, its time to get off my arse and put up a few clips.

I went back and forth last night with a classic 30 (splawn is down right now) with the OCD and the crunchbox into the clean channel. Much prefer the OCD, more amplike and warm. The crunchbox is very cool though just more raspy and in your face. In a two guitar situation I might choose the CB. Olin, for the price you should definately try one.

Re: Mi Audio Pedals - Wow These Samples Rock!

just an update my tube zone came about 15 minutes ago and i played it for about 10 and i can say this already....if you can't get a tone from this thing you like just quit playing guitar LOL. i was using it through my '79 marshall JMP into my splawn 4x12 with a JB loaded super strat. keep in mind my main amp is a dual recto and my marshall gets little use due to a severe lack of balls LOL. that's why i bought the tube zone to give the JMP a large nut implant :laugh2: anyway, the amp was set to a 90% clean sound i guess you can call it and i used the Tube Zone to add the gain. this thing is crazy, it can go from just a bit of a boost with the gain down to some AC/DC grit to some great metal tones and anything else between them. the knobs react very well and every slight movement makes a slight tone change which is nice since some pedals require large knob moves for small changes. i need to spend more time with it but it's hard to crank my amps around here all the time and give it a good long test. however after only 10 minutes of use at a moderate volume (hot plate was also on at -8 during this teest) with some quick and random knob twisting just to see what it does i know it will only get better as i play with the settings and crank up the amp even more.

Nice! I suggest you use the presence knob which is inside the pedal too. You can shape the sound drastically.

Re: Mi Audio Pedals - Wow These Samples Rock!

UGH

Now I feel I need both.

I have to say I did some work this week with both my OCD and Keeley DS1 on my board. The Keeley is coming off. The OCD just blows my mind everytime I use it. Gorgeous, thick, present, articulate, Marshall in a box. If the Mi Audio stuff touches these realms - wow.

I don't know how much higher gain I would need, but I love options. The TZ sounds versatile. However, TONE wins for me. I would rather have a CB or OCD if they are simple and sound better. I am not a tweaker. Hate knobs.

How similar are the OCD and CB?

BTW Mike, the CB is mucho cheap - I am happy about that aspect!

Re: Mi Audio Pedals - Wow These Samples Rock!

I never played the OCD nor the CB but they are voiced similar, what I heared. The TZ is much different so I think it's nothing for you imo.

Bump

Sly_D has got a CB..perhaps he'll chime in or you shoot him a pm.

i hear alot of people at harmony central that seem to get sick of the crunch box pretty quick. At first they seem to like it but later they just don't seem to stay happy with it. ON the other hand people seem to stay very pleased with the newest version of the tube zone and the blue boy deluxe which are the 2 i want to try. They have some tough competition though cause my h20 bd-2 and od808 are VERY hard to beat

Re: Mi Audio Pedals - Wow These Samples Rock!

The CB is a great pedal and sounds amazingly like a cranked Marshall amp.
