MI Audio Tube Zone

Does anyone have clips of this pedal in action? I'm curious if it can work for my music style.

Re: MI Audio Tube Zone

Hi Rowan, what style exactly would that be ? The TZ is quite a versatile pedal, but there are pedals out there that might do a better job at just one specific style.

Here are some really nice clips of it being used with a 25 Watt tube class A 1x12" combo:

It's a real smooth sounding pedal...I couldn't get a crunch sound out of it..no snot sounds :D

Yesterday in the band rehearsal I used it and got some cool Shawn Lane-esque sounds out of it. It's very smooth.

I know it's youtube but hey.

@Vin: Cool link, thanks..sounds really sick!!

Wow those are some great tone clips guys! But can the pedal get more gain than that? From those clips it sounds like the Tube Zone would be a phenominal lead tool, but I need something good all around and more gain. Can anyone reccomend something for my music? You can click the myspace in my signature to get an idea. Everything was recorded with a line6 spider II amp head/stack. I really like the distortion sound but want something similar, warmer and more tube sounding.

Re: MI Audio Tube Zone

I'm friends with the local MI Audio importer, and I've given the tube zone a decent spin. It's a very versatile unit. It seemed capable of high gain to me, but then again I'm one of those guys that tried the 5150 back when they were new and wondered who on earth would ever push the pre gain past 6.

One thing I did like about the higher gain settings of the tube zone was that you could get a very cool fuzz that's I'd best describe as a big muff I wouldn't get sick of hearing after one tune.

Re: MI Audio Tube Zone

It has a lot of gain on tap. I don't seem to be able to use max gain, the most i use is 3 or 4 oclock for me. In terms of that "fuzzyness" that Hot_Grits mentioned is when you turn the character up on the pedal if I'm not correct. If you turn the character down, you get a great marshall in a box crunch. I was initially going to purchase an OCD, but i'm not sure anymore. I still want an OCD though.

Yesistrue!

You get some nice Hendrix fuzz out of it...or have a listen to Shawn Lane's "Peace in Mississippi"...*growl rooooar* :D You'll get quite close to the sound.
