I am looking at this brand new three tone sunburst MIA Deluxe Tele with a rosewood fret board. It sounds really good and the action is nice. I've played almost every type of electrics (Strat, Jassmaster, Jaguar, Mustang, LP, SG, Flying V, Xpress, and semi hollow bodies) with single coil and humbucker pickups except a Tele. Do any you Tele Gurus recommend this guitar? Is there anything I should be aware of? I would appreciate it if you guys can help me out. I play all kinds of music except Rap...well, never mind the Rap part.

I think this Deluxe Tele is great. It comes with a hardshell case, locking strap, cleaner wipe and the allen ranch for the neck. The thing I like best is the sound of its SCN pickups. It is awesome, especially when I push down the S1 switch. The contour body makes playing very comfortable also. The owner of the music store said I could walk out the door with it if I laid down $1100, and I think it is a good price. I do have the dough for it, but I have never gigged with a Tele before. After playing that thing for a while, I think it can be used on a lot of music styles. So what do you guys think? Should I go for it?

very nice guitar, i prefer vintage style though. That is just the way i like them though and i can't see any reason why this tele would not be great. I say go for it.
One thing i recommend, look into a bridge from callaham. They are so nice and they have one designed for new american models

I went out and bought the Tele today. I was surprised to find out that I can get it to sound very much like a Gibson LP Custom. I had both of them side by side and compared with the same amp. The Custom had a little bit higher output but they sound very similar and the Tele can get a lot of other sounds. It was also very twangy. I guess I can hook up my Duncan pickup booster to give it more output and it will get me the LP Custom sound. I'll try this later. I also compared it to the Nashville Tele and I like the Deluxe much better. It sure is a big surprise for me.

Teles are awesome guitars, just keep one thing in mind, single coils don't like being pushed too hard (I've used clean boosts through overdrive channels), they do tend to squeal (sometimes it's not noticeable until you're playing with a band and you get too close to the amp)
I don't think the Telecaster is the perfect lead guitar, but it can do a wide variety of genres extremely well (which has been its appeal to me for a while). Don't expect it to get as thick or sustain as well as a Les Paul, but it can still sing... I've used it as lead guitar player in my band.

BTW, those SCN pickups were designed by Bill Lawrence. Good stuff. They're the same design (basically) as what's in the Deluxe Strats. The Vintage Noiseless is a Fender design, not BL.

Yeah. I was right there when the shop owner was opening the boxes for his new shippment and I saw this Tele. I told him I had never owned a Tele before and he asked me if I was interested. I said "yes" and he had one of his guys set up the guitar right a way and let me try it. He told me that was the only Deluxe Tele he had ordered for this shippment. I plugged it up to the amp and the rest is history. He told me the reason he would sell me the Tele with that price was because he didn't have to put it in his inventory and there would be no overhead for him, and I had also got him quite some previous businesses before and he was returning a favor.Kommerzbassist said:

I would like to ask you guys to tell me which artist had recorded with a Tele so that I can listen to them.
I would also like to know what kind of amp usually goes good with a Tele and how do you set up the guitar-amp combination for sound, because I absolutely has no clue.

Just as a sampler, listen to Roy Buchanan, Albert Collins, Muddy Waters, the first Led Zep album and the solo on "Stairway to Heaven", Bruce Springsteen, Keith Richards on a lot of the Stones stuff, and a host of country and country-rock guys (James Burton, Albert Lee, Vince Gill, Brad Paisley, Keith Urban). A Tele works great with a host of different amps depending on your style and tastes, but it all started with Fender tweed amps in the '50's.

I'd also notice the Rolling Stones had some Tele stuff in their songs, especially in Live Licks. I always thought Page used Strats and LPs, may be I should dig up my vinyl records and listen to them again. If I remember right, Booker T & the MGs also use the Tele.
Will the Fender Blackface work well with the Tele? If it does, then I'll be all set to go. Also, how about the Bassman?
