Micro Terror with macro problems

I was unpacking more of my gear this weekend and my Micro Terror was silent. The power light goes on and the tube lights up. I put in a new 12AX7 and it is still silent. I get nothing from the speaker output or the headphone jack. Inspection of the board does not show any defects and yes the speaker and instrument cable are perfect.

I want to explore all options before throwing it in the trash. I can not imagine it would be cost effective to send it to my amp tech. Any help is appreciated.

Re: Micro Terror with macro problems

Maybe check the wiring at the input jack? Assuming it’s not built into the board.

Iirc that only has 2 preamp tubes, correct? And you swapped out both of them with known good ones?

Otherwise...it power up so that fuse is good
There aren’t any power tubes to worry about.

Possibility that a ribbon connection has worked itself loose form whatever it is supposed to plug into?

Re: Micro Terror with macro problems

hope you can get it fixed, but if not - I hope you're not talking actual trash can. the housing & parts alone is a treasure for an amp builder/tinkerer and could fetch a little scratch.

Trouble shooting is always the biggest pita.

I think this head is toast. Time to start looking for a new lunchbox.

Hard to believe anything would go wrong with it packed away in a box. Is it the "Dark" version? If so, check the FX loop jacks for bad contact. Dirty jacks in unused FX loops are about the most common, simple amp problem.

If it truly is dead, check out the Vox MV50 Rock. I had mine over at a buddy's house last week, and we ran it through a cabinet with two Creambacks in it. We also had a DSL50CST fired up, and his Kemper running a variety of professionally-made profiles. I thought the little $200 MV50 was the best-sounding amp in the room (which makes it difficult to explain why I brought the DSL home with me.)

I'm not familiar with that amp but from my limited experience if it isn't the jacks it's usually the fets or transformer.
