Microphonic lil 59

Re: Microphonic lil 59

Do you have the modern, machined bridge or the vintage-style stamped steel design?

Is it tight against the top of the guitar body?

Are the bridge pickup height adjustment screws for the new pickup passing through compressible metal springs or sections of rubber tubing?

Re: Microphonic lil 59

Thank you for the reply.

It is vintage and as tight as I can imagine it being.

The pickup is attached with springs and rubber tubing.

Re: Microphonic lil 59

Are the heads of all three bridge pickup height adjustment screws flush with the surface of the bridge? Do any of the screw heads stand proud enough so that the threads can be seen?

Re: Microphonic lil 59

I tightened them as much as I could.

It seems stable

On edit: They are flush with the bridge and adjusted height accordingly.

Re: Microphonic lil 59

We seem to be at cross purposes.

I am referring to the three screws that set the distance between the top of the pickup and the vibrating strings. NOT the four wood screws that secure a vintage-style T bridge to the top of the guitar.

My questions are all aimed at identifying possible sources of unwanted mechanical resonances.

As of now, it is impossible to go any further in a remote diagnosis without photographs of your guitar.

Yes, the 3 pickup adjustment screws are flush with the ashtray.

The way it's mounted is with a spring and a small piece of rubber tubing. Although, one screw has a ground attached coming from the control cavity.

I'll load some photos up!

Re: Microphonic lil 59

Take some foam and pack it in under the pickup and around the sides. This helped a lot with the Lil 59 in my tele

Re: Microphonic lil 59

If this doesn't go away with the adjustments listed here it may need to be repotted. You can do it yourself, or Seymour Duncan can do that for you.

The ground wire is attached to one of the pickup height adjusting screws?!

The pup already has a ground to its baseplate (the bare wire). You don't need that extra ground to the pup adjusting screw.

Take that off of the pup and put it under the bridge plate to ground the bridge and strings.
