Mid-powered bridge humbucker needed that works with a p90 in the neck

I have a mahogany body, maple neck/rosewood finger board guitar. Current setup is DiMarzio Super Distortion in the bridge (soapbar shape), and a Seymour Duncan Vintage Bridge P90 in the neck. I play mostly classic and 90's-type rock.

The pickups work really well together in terms of output, and I'd like to keep the bridge p90 in the neck, as it's got slightly hotter output than the neck version, which works well with my setup. I am, however, considering swapping out the DiMarzio Super D because, while it sounds fantastic distorted, especially on leads, its clean sounds leave a lot to be desired. It has kind of an ugly, nasally, mid hump. At least I think that's what it is. It can also sound a bit brittle.

Anyway, looks like Seymour Duncan can put any of their humbuckers into a P90 form factor. So, I was looking for a recommendation on a Seymour Duncan humbucker that would keep up with output of the Bridge P90 in the neck, would sounds good distorted, but smooth out the mids and have a bit more of the PAF jangle when playing clean.

Thanks!

59/Custom Hybrid? That might be what you're looking for. It's somewhat scooped and has a 3D high end, due to the coil mismatch. It's also very versatile. Great clean, excellent on the verge of breakup, and killer distorted. You'll probably like it with the P90 neck too.

Yeah, I immediately thought of he 59/Custom as well.

So, I was considering it and the Custom 5. Not really sure which one is smoother sounding and less likely to send my lower wattage amp into overdrive. Also, what about the parallel axis? Worth looking into, or no?

The PATB is well worth a look. The PATB-1 is quite possibly based off the Custom 5, the PATB-2 is based off the Distortion, and the PATB-3 is in another category entirely, you should definitely listen to some soundclips before pulling the trigger on that one.

The 59/C is exactly the same as the Custom 5, except that one of its coils is from the 59, which is a PAF of sorts. I can't tell you how big the output difference is between the C5 and the 59/C, as I usually put an A4 or A2 in the hybrid. But neither are what I would call high output.

The Custom 5 has a higher output, so that will get overdrive faster than the Hybrid. The Custom 5 is also a lot more scooped, so if you have a mid-heavy guitar, or amp, or just don't like mids, then that is a good choice.

thanks, everybody. This is really helpful! in terms of output, would the 59/custom keep up with the Bridge Vintage p90 i have in the neck?
