Middle pickup suited to a dimebucker?

Hey guys, another question for the wee Charvel. I've got, Dimebucker in bridge and Hot rails in neck. I was thinking about getting the APS-1 Alnico II pro Staggered in mid becase i've had it before and it was beautiful. Just wondering... any oppinions? I only use the middle pickup for clean guitar and want it to be a clear crisp tone, not too high in treble. I want it to sound smooth and glassy. Thanks, Fraz.

EDIT- I just looked at the APS and the base plate of the pickup won't fit my charvel, it's just a straight ovel cut, it doesn't have the lip. So any suggestions? I was originally just gonna get another hot rails in the mid.

i might try a cool rails to get a nicer clean tone than the hot rails

OK - let's go WAYYYYYYY outside the box.
1. Get another Dimebucker
2. Perform coil surgery and separate the two coils.
Put one in the neck, one in the middle
* This will require pup micro surgery: Perhaps call the custom shop and get this done....
Then you would have two dime singles, and together you would have a wide coverage bucker!

Gonna go for the cool Rails since no one has any other viable suggestions. Not that discecting a dimebucker wouldn't be fun...

Re: Middle pickup suited to a dimebucker?

YOu you want to split the hotrails and Dime in positions 2+4 or would you prefer all to just stay wired teh way they are?

For the former, stick with the Aps you have and simply file /sand /dremel the lip away, just be caareful not to nick the wires.

For a non splitting setup: the Duckbucker

*edit* Just noticed, you dont "have " an aps.. in that case, just order it without the lip as a shop floor custom. A bit longer wait, but IIRC zero upcharge ;)

Re: Middle pickup suited to a dimebucker?

there's come a Hot Rails for the neck and the middle, I Got the same problem that you have and I get this JB= 16.4k & the JAZZ= 7.72k.
I get myself thinking a lot about this... which position I'm gonna use more 4 or 2. my option is #2 so I have to balance the output of both Pick ups (Jb & middle) so I make a search and I found a Hot Rails specific for middle & neck & it make a great comb even with the jazz one http://www.americanmusical.com/item--i-SEY-SHR1N.html

Big and clean for the middle...I'd get a Quarter Pounder. It'll warm those ceramics up considerably.
