Mighty Mite necks?

What's the general consensus around here regarding their quality? I know they're not Warmouths or Fenders, but are they good enough?

Re: Mighty Mite necks?

You're right that they're not Warmth or USACG, but they make a decent neck. I know a few guys that have them though I'm not personally interested. The biggest limitation is that they only have so many models, and you're out of luck if you want something different (my case).

Re: Mighty Mite necks?

I don't have a clue about the new ones (US?) but the older (imported?) necks are just a notch above Squier Affinity quality... IMO. I'm sure it depends on spec, but a rough finish, sharp edged wood, blocky heels and uneven shaping are typical of them. I have one on a guitar, the way the profile swells toward the nut/headstock really sort of bugs me. Pretty average quality... Wish I'd gotten something else but then again it's structurally good and doesn't have me rushing to upgrade, I can totally deal with it and it set up pretty well, has held up better than a few necks I've had over the years.

Re: Mighty Mite necks?

I haven't had one personally, but I was researching to decide on what kind of neck to get for a couple projects. I read that the Mighty Mite necks often need a lot of fretwork. They'll have sharp fret ends sticking out that will need filed down and probably need the frets leveled. That's something I read about other neck makers as well, but I thought for the money the old saying "you get what you pay for" probably applies. I went with Warmoth, which should arrive sometime this week.

Re: Mighty Mite necks?

I had a killer partscaster that had a mm neck. If there was an issue with anything the guy who built it took care of it..it was wonderfully comfortable and playedike a dream.

The only bad thing was the frets were very soft.

Re: Mighty Mite necks?

They're decent necks. They need fretwork, but most of the time partscasters need fretwork when they're done anyway. The V profiles are actually quite pleasant.

Re: Mighty Mite necks?

As mentioned already, they are not Warmoth/Musikraft quality but they make good necks. I'd also recommend Allparts–they offer good necks for a great price too.

And I second that partscasters in general need fretwork when done...

So is it a 'hard' V? The V was what I was leaning towards trying out. Somethimes I like a V as a change of pace, but it depends on the V. I'm real picky about necks.
