MIJ Squier Tremolo

Hey guys, in looking at replacing the tremolo on my '87 E series squier, I have come across some conflicting info. My existing tremolo is 6 hole 2-1/16 string spacing and 2-1/16 hole spacing. It looks like the Callaham Mexican tremolo would fit, yet Callaham says no. Is this because the Mexican sustain block would be too long? If that's the only reason I can mill it down to the correct size. There doesn't seem to be too many options for an older MIJ squier replacement out there.

I'd go to the Wammi World site and find the dude's e-mail. He knows all about that stuff.

Re: MIJ Squier Tremolo

I'm starting to get a headache looking at all the info through google and other forums. Even fleabay doesn't seem to really have anything. Looks like I have to learn Japanese and go to the Fender Japan site. LOL

I'm actually kind of shocked, I went to the Gotoh website and they don't make anything in 2-1/16. I figured if anyone made one in that size it would be them. I've contacted Callaham to get their views on the tremolo they make for the MIM strats. If they say it's just the length of the block then I can mill it down, or make my own spare.
