MIJ strats

Re: MIJ strats

i tried a MIJ strat 3 weeks ago or so (coz they dont have MIM here! only MIJ and MIA)
i like them. feels solid, and well constructed. nthing great about the pups though. the one i tried had a fret job just done so it was well setup by the tech as well.

Re: MIJ strats

I've got the 2001 CIJ Iron Maiden Strat (different body and pickups now). The neck is the magic of that guitar. I love it and would love to find another one just like it. There's good stuff from Fender Japan.

Re: MIJ strats

I've got a CIJ '52 Tele that I love. I can't imagine I'd get twice the guitar by paying twice the price for MIA. Mine has Texas Specials, they are great pickups, btw.

Re: MIJ strats

I'm not a fan of Stratocasters, but I do like Japanese Fenders.

The current export and domestic-market FJs are usually made by different companies to different standards. The domestic-market ones made by Tokai/Kasuga and available through Ishibashi are the best-made production Fenders, hands-down.

The export ones sold in the US as a small part of the Fender catalogue are still pretty good. If I remember correctly, these are made by Dyna.

Re: MIJ strats

I have a 1988 Japanese Squier strat and it is the nicest playing AND sounding strat Ive ever played! I knew when I picked it up that it was special. Solid, beautifully made, HUGE accoustic tone and sustain for days. The stock pickups were unfortunate, but an easy fix.
I now have some Bill Lawrence keystones in it and I dont ever even look at strats in the stores..
$149 + $90 (pups) + $15 (straplocks) = $tratisfaction!

Re: MIJ strats

Reason I ask is that one of the forum bros here gave me a raging case of gas for an "antigua" (see bottom of this thread https://forum.seymourduncan.com/showthread.php?t=105417&page=4). Long story short I found one. Unfortunately I know nothing about strats. Never owned one and have rarely even played one. All I know is that I've been wanting a strat for a while now and I really like the way that strat looks. Details of the potential guitar: 2005 "CIJ" strat. That's all I know. Anyone know anything about these guitars???

it's by no means a jap 70s recreation but a good guitar per se. i wasn't a fan of vintage type frets until i played (& bought) this one.

Re: MIJ strats

I have a '92 MIJ Strat in my collection, and I couldn't audibly tell it from a MIM or US. Though, the picguard screw positions are different, and it's bridge chroming seems to be waring quicker, but it was my first! I have changed the pickups to EMG and the tuners are now Sperzel Locking.

It was the first of my guitars to get a mod's makeover, and its tone sprung to life with the EMG's and the Sperzels keep it in tune much better.

If you want to trace your guitars past, you can on Fender's site.

Re: MIJ strats

im pretty sure fender japan makes all of their necks out of cream cheese... not wood.

I thought my CIJ had a neck that could'nt be beaten, but a local fender dealer had a CIJ mustang, and sure enough the neck was just as sweet. I've found some of the older fender mexi's and USA's have the same cream cheese quality on the necks. Mostly one's ive played from the 90's. My buddy has a partscaster with an old mexican squier neck, and it's also as amazing as my CIJ, which i found cool, cuz its a squier.
