[long thread]

Rumors are buzzing, what have you heard ?

Re: Mike Soldano closing up shop ?

Mike just did a Tone Talk and nothing was mentioned. I can ask Friedman, but I wouldn’t think anything at this point

Re: Mike Soldano closing up shop ?

I just went to our local Soldano dealers website & he has no Soldanos listed. it seems he's stopped being a Soldano dealer which is weird cuz he's been one for over 25 years.

Re: Mike Soldano closing up shop ?

Being new to all of this I had never heard of this gentleman and his amps.

Did a super quick peak at his site and that Lucky 13 seems to be a crazy ass amp.

Just to bad there are so many different amps I would love to have but never will.

Re: Mike Soldano closing up shop ?

Good for Mike, he built a successful business and is now retiring at 62, sounds like a good life plan to me.

Re: Mike Soldano closing up shop ?

Maybe a B.A.D. hand wired *Licensed by Soldano SLO is in my future who knows ?

Re: Mike Soldano closing up shop ?

Talked with my buddy Lynne Burke at Blues City Music over the weekend at length, while ordering one last Soldano for myself.

He is Mike’s friend as well as his biggest dealer and talks with Mike weekly and this is legit. Mike is selling the building, moving his hot rods and many of his machines to his house and retiring. He’s got a few cars he wants to finish out.

He’s not planning to sell the company or license the name at this point, though.

There is a plan to run out the last of the Deyoung transformers as a final hoorah, but not much after that, really only repairs and warranty work on amps.

You can get more on this on the Blues City Music Facebook page or the Soldano owners group on Facebook.

It’s a sad day as I won’t be able to afford an SLO after this, but from what I am hearing it’s the right time for Mike to do this.

Sorry, I'm out of the loop, what is a B.A.D. wired Soldano? I saw references in another forum too.

Yeah, I’d really love to own a Soldano too, but it’s just not in my financial future.

Re: Mike Soldano closing up shop ?

The old Hot Rods can still be had for reasonable prices but I assume you are referring to a SLO when you say Soldano(?). FWIW, I had a HR50+ and it was one of my favorite amps.

Mike Soldano closing up shop ?

Yes, the SLO would be my first choice. And it’s the model I’m most aware of.
I was going to say most familiar with, but since I’ve never played any Soldano I’m not really familiar with any of them. But I’ve been aware of the SLO’s greatness for some time now

I had a Soldano Avenger 100 for a few years. I would have liked to kept it as a keepsake, but I don't regret offloading it a player.

Re: Mike Soldano closing up shop ?

I've played SLO's many times and always loved them. I never could afford one though. I had a Jet City for a while, but it was no SLO. Sad to hear that mike is closing shop. I got my kemper and MTS so at least I can have a little SLO magic to myself.

Re: Mike Soldano closing up shop ?

This is a pity. I think Soldanos is possibly the best-sounding amps of all time – judging from the records they have been used on. I really wanted to get an HR25, but that seems unlikely now, since there can't be too many of those around. I guess the Synergy stuff will be our best option now…

That's a tough call, they are great amps, but to use that criteria, personally I'd have to say either Marshalls or Mesa Marks/Coliseums.
